The few downsides in this window:

We've not signed a top left back which I would have assumed was the number 1 priority signing for our club. But apparently not. I'm genuinely shocked. Antony is still here. Our biggest wage thief is Rashford now and I think we missed an opportunity to sell him for a good fee because somehow he's still got some reputation left.

But Sancho's been sold and I forgot about Greenwood. That's good news.


I hope our new signings are good. We've only had one good signing post Fergie and that's Bruno. Even if a couple of these turn out to be good players in the next 5 years then it's progress.

Rashford only signed a new contract last summer, which runs until 2028, so I don't think we were ever really going to sell him this year.

He might be one to watch over the next couple of seasons, though.

I think Ashworth and co. have done a great job this summer, given the scale of the task of transforming this squad.

To bring in 5 players in key areas including a DM and top young CB is quality work when you consider the state of our club. A huge wage bill, bloated squad, colossal debt, a maxed out credit card and little / no profit to reinvest. And that's without mentioning the decaying physical infrastructure which needs massive investment.

Shaw’s availability is a problem but if everyone is fit, we have options at LB at least. Not like CB where we lost our best one and the others are shit apart from Martinez, or DM where we only have one and he can’t defend anymore. LB will do for another season. We can’t do everything in one window like a state run club and if we’d done a Chelsea, we’d all be shitting bricks about the club going down the pan properly.

Yeah I'm really happy with that Window. Feels like our first properly professional window since Fergie left. Imagine where we'd be if we'd had proper, competent leadership at the club over recent years.

For years, we've been 3 good windows away from being a top side, and no window has made inroads into that. Now, it feels like we're genuinely 2 windows away from being a top side.

A left back, another CB to replace Maguire and Lindelof, another top midfield addition, and 1 - maybe 2 - additions to the front line depending on how our young forwards develop over the next 1-2 years, and we won't be far away.

Its remarkable really, we've generated ~£120-130m of transfer revenue, and we haven't lost anyone that's an important first team player in generating that income. McTominay was a decent squad player, but not a starter once everyone is fit.

Its remarkable really, we've generated ~£120-130m of transfer revenue, and we haven't lost anyone that's an important first team player in generating that income. McTominay was a decent squad player, but not a starter once everyone is fit.

It's taken a complete change of ownership to finally get something approaching value for players. Thank fuck too cos there's no way we could operate under FFP and PSR without it. Selling players for a decent price is essential revenue now.

The Glazers proved hopeless in this environment. It was too complicated. And with the physical infrastructure requiring emergency investment too (Ineos' 150m sticking plaster), we'd have been fucked this season without a sensible investor.

I'm wary of blowing smoke up the tory cunts arse but the turnaround may be quicker than planned. For me securing the future of the club eg tackling the 1.2bn debt and the stadium are priorities. I'd take a few shite seasons to do that. But maybe we can have both.

Finally seeing the mad shit going on at some clubs, the main one being Chelsea, I'm glad Ineos seem sensible. They've not come at it with some risky bro finance bullshit or some underhand state doping operation that'll get found out in 10 years. Seriously don't underestimate having a sensible owner.

Fair points, but I'm still a bit concerned that Dalot will be forced to play at LB, when he's much better at RB imho. The jury is still out for me wrt to Mazraoui at RB. According to his profile he can play both RB and LB, so maybe he'll work out at LB and Dalot will revert to RB?
