He is but we've hired 4 managers and made them coaches which is unusual. I'm not sure what the thinking is as surely they're going to want more input and control, especially if things don't go well. Could be a case of too many chiefs.

Maybe it'll work, maybe Ineos are letting them audition for the top job if Hag gets sacked.

I think they just want as much expertise around Ten Hag as possible, as he clearly lost his way last season. Maybe Ineos' assessment was that McClaren, McCarthy and van der Gaag are all yes men so if the going gets tough, Ten Hag is on his own to fix it?

I agree it reeks of "too many cooks" but surely they have specific areas that are theirs? From what I've read that Swedish lad is a set piece coach, Rouwelaar is the GK coach, maybe Ruud handles the goalscoring/attacking, Hake handles the pressing/defending and then Hag has his overall idea? Speculation but it's not like we've hired 3 managers, but 3 coaches with experience as managers.

We'll see. Knowing our luck we'll have an injury crisis by October, Hag sacked by xmas and Yoro puts in a transfer request to Madrid in January because it's such a shitshow.

That's a good point tbf. It's more accurate. Most are very inexperienced managers.

I back Ineos tbf. Their thing is to make failing things successful. Football is notoriously difficult but so is some of the other shit they've done.

Like rebuilding Old Trafford seems like such a massive thing. But these cunts build complex petro chemical plants for 50/60bn. A 2/3bn stadium is nowt.

Perhaps instead of getting more ‘assistant coaches’ we should get rid of the ‘fitness’ coach and the ‘strength and conditioning’ coach, both who have palpably failed in their jobs. Both have been with United for 5 years and things have gone from bad to worse on the fitness front!

I was happy to give ten Hag the benefit of the doubt when Ineos decided to back him but, for me, yesterday proved his decision making just isn’t up to scratch.
Game over. Get rid now before he does any more damage.

People saying Ineos can't sack Hag after backing him in the summer. They can. They didn't back him per se, they extended his deal for another year cos they couldn't find anybody who was better right now. They were open about the process and the reasoning.

After another 3/4 games of pure bollocks, there will be better candidates out there. Managers that can steady the ship.

It's not just about the contract.
Ineos bought more Dutch/Ajax players - these were clearly players identified by Ten Hag and not Ineos recommendations.
More importantly Ineos hired staff with mostly Dutch/Ajax connections. These were also most likely people identified by Hag.
That's a solid backing considering they almost fired him after last season.
I don't think the new manager keeps the recently hired staff if they came here to work with Ten Hag instead of the club.
Also keep in mind that if this season is a disaster, the new staff are also accountable. What's Ruud's responsibility atm?
He will also be accountable for how we do this season.
It's not clear why we hired managers instead of coaches. Is Ruud a top coach as well? Idk, it's a genuine question.

So the club have backed ten hag a lot more than just that contract extension. Firing him has become harder now.

You're overstating a bit there. He might have had a hand in the signings but they don't feel like Antony/Malacia style ones from his personal list. You're acting like the players/staff we've brought in give him some sort of diplomatic immunity.

Ineos have been fairly ruthless and straight-talking so far. They've offloaded loads of crap, freed up budget and attempted to revitalise the squad with younger players. They gave Hag an extension due to FA Cup goodwill and not having another option. If it's god awful for the next 3-4 games, he's gone I reckon. I won't think much less of them for it, as long as they bring in their guy as a replacement and not just whoever is available.

By the way lads, that's a 4-0, 7-0, 0-5 and a 0-3 against the scousers in recent years. Ten Hag not responsible for all of them but I can't remember a period where we've been so consistently battered by the cunts. We can't expect to win every game against our biggest rivals, but at least fucking fight and have a plan. Hag's biggest problem is we've rarely seen either of those in big games. Ole managed much better in spite of his faults. That has to be an absolute basic for the next manager - make it horrible for our rivals to play us, either with tactics, being physical, miserly, attacking with abandon. I don't care how, the scousers, Abu Dhabi and the gooners shouldn't be coming to Old Trafford and taking all three points whilst barely getting out of 1st gear. That seems to just keep happening with Hag.
