If they cover a chunk of his wages, I think we'll do it, with a view to signing a midfielder in Jan. Big boost to PSR if they cover 50-60% of his wages. And he's a fucking liability now.
We don't have enough midfielders. Mount is injured again. Ugarte isn't match fit. We sold McT for peanuts.
If we lose Casemiro then we'll only have kobbie and Collyer available. Bruno too I suppose. He can play deep.

If anything we can loan him out on Jan.

We don't have the luxury of waiting, if a serious offer comes in. I don't think you grasp the materiality of PSR. Casemiro is on £300K per week. If we get them to meet say 60% of his wages, that's £8-10m saved this season. If they take him on a 2 year deal, its double that amount saved. That's the equivalent of 1 or 2 ~£50m players (PSR headroom) over the same period. And whilst we're light in midfield, what fucking use is Casemiro now? Take the money, use Collyer and the new kid Kone, buy in Jan. We're rebuilding, we have to think long term.

Fenerbache in for Antony on Loan too. Same principle. We need to shift these high cost, low contribution players on ASAP.

With you 100% on Casemiro. And Dozer has made it abundantly clear recently that he doesn’t get PSR and the value of saving wages where possible.

Thing is with Antony though, then we only have 3 wingers. Martial, Pellistri, Sancho, Forson all gone. I’d have probably kept Forson or Pellistri over Antony but the reality is he probably stays. UNLESS Mount is used wide right or Bruno again (which would be a mistake).

Yeah. I just think Antony is so abject, that any reasonable offer is one we should take. It still leaves us with Rashford, Amad, Garnacho, Hojlund, Zirkee to cover the front 3 roles. Plus Mount and Bruno. Now, I worry about quality, but the numbers there aren't bad. We're very light on midfielders. Rabiot and Dele Alli are available on a free, but I wouldn't want either. We'd have to muddle through until January. But, given this is another building year, its the last year I'd be ok with us taking some real pain, being obviously light, and showing up badly in a few games.

Antony is shit and must go. The club probably tried too but they couldn't get rid. I hope they tried.

Why are you bringing up the PSR issue now? PSR was an issue last month too. I don't think the club tried to get rid of Casemiro, not on loan anyway. No one probably offered to buy him so we kept him.

Should we also suddenly loan out Rashford because of PSR?
These decisions must not be reactive.
Fuck me. I think everyone secretly wants Ed Woodward back.

If he sticks to players who aren't up to it, it'll cost him his job.

Whilst I understand and agree with the idea of backing him in the summer, and think there are mitigations for much of where and why we're shit, I worry about his judgement. Onana isn't a good keeper (and was free a year earlier!), Martinez is a cult hero and good at playing out, but can't actually defend, Malacia was eager but raw as hell, he's a huge Mount fan, wanted to keep Amrabat and McTominay before being persuaded to go with Ugarte instead, rated Antony (though the price tag wasn't really down to him).
Completely agree but that's generally what he's doing. I mean, Rashford seems to be untouchable

Our success is going to be a function of his decision making, which to me seems consistently flawed. Hence my view that he probably needs to go.

Gonna have to stick up for Martinez. He's a world class defender but he's not looked the same since his injury. The club fucked him up by bringing him back early too, so he got injured again. Before then he was immense - the best in the world.

I also think he may be struggling with 'can't be fucked' syndrome after winning the world cup aka the biggest trophy in football, for a country where football is a religion too. He's been deified, and now he's at a batshit stupid club like United who're in disarray. He's always had a numpty beside him too apart from the 20 games Varane was fit. And a numpty in goal.

Not surprised his performances have dropped off.

I think Joel has a point on Martinez. He’s often looked weak in his positioning and he isn’t blisteringly fast.

Is it possible he’s being exposed a bit because both him and De Ligt are front foot defenders? Both of them are strong in getting out but we’ve seen several goals conceded already where neither of them is covering.

Hopefully it gets sorted with time and playing together because otherwise it’s yet another problem with our defensive structure
