That's exactly what I said about Hojlund - "He was setup to fail but he didn't show any talent as a striker."Felwin wrote: ↑5 months agoTwo things can be true at the same time. Hojlund can be shit for us but also categorically failed by us. This is true for at least 10 players in the last decade and there's an argument for saying it's true for all of them tbf.dozer wrote: ↑5 months agoHojlund was trash for us and he was poor under Ten Hag as well.Felwin wrote: ↑5 months agoThe goal was very similar to one of his first goals for us where he ran through, palmed off a defender and stuck it in the corner.Fuck the Glazers wrote: ↑5 months agoI was watching that when he scored. It's a proper CFs goal. The run in behind, pace, strength and finish. Didn't think he had it in him. It helps being fed by De Bruyne and McT but still, he did it make many of those runs for us. Makes you what the fuck Amorim and Hag were asking him to do at United.Jason wrote: ↑5 months ago Maybe this should be in other teams stuff, or maybe we need one for former players, but hojlund scored a pretty nice goal on his debut for Napoli, its a cert he kicks on and does great for them ala Mct isn't it.

Maybe a case of prem defenders being that bit faster and stronger, as well as us not playing to his strengths?
It was obvious he needed these balls, but he spend most of last season wrestling with cbs.
Also Garnacho lost his man in last minute to cost Chelsea the qin, so that was nice to see!
We all know there's a player in there and as usual, he won't be the first that we somehow contrived to ruin. How well Sesko does will give us an idea of how much Amorim had to do with Hojlund's poor form last season. And of course if Hojlund scores 25 and fires Napoli to a title.
He was setup to fail but he didn't show any talent as a striker.
At least Sesko seems to get at the end of balls. He is at the very least present in the frame when there is an attacking cross.
Hojlund would often be the only player missing completely from the area.
He might do well, and I hope he does, because I like Hojlund, he never gave up but he had to go.
This "let's keep the trash for a decade lest they do well elsewhere" mindset is what got us into the mire in the first place. Shaw is still playing for us.
Many here thought he was "world class" when fit - no, he was mediocre to crap.
Whatever Amorim or Hag asked Hojlund to do, they would have at least expected him to sniff out chances. He was worse than our defenders or midfielders at doing so.
You don't need to say that to a striker - that's the basics that every striker is expected to do.
