Didn't Ed say on one of the pods a few months back that both the Cunha deal and the Sesko deal will be paid off this summer? As in were trying to structure deals so that we have them paid off within 12-18 months instead of still owing Real for Casemiro after he's played his last game for us.

Most of the League owe between £200m and £300m so as mental as it sounds, if we can get it down to those levels then we're operating like a "normal" club

£37.5m for a midfielder with his stats is good value, even if he only had a year left on his contract. If we can get £35m for Ugarte, then it'll be an upgrade for no money. What I've read/heard about him (since we declared our interest) I reckon he'll add some value to the squad and give us options.

Reckon it'll be M Fernandes next, probably a £55m+ deal. There's also talk of Alex Scott too and Lewis Hall, with the Ineos criteria being 'young, huge potential and at least 2 years premier league experience'. Think we need some experience too but maybe Carrick is thinking we have that with Bruno, Maguire, Cunha et al

Unlike most of the noise out there, I'm not that bothered about bringing in a world class midfielder. I have no aspirations for us to win the league next season. I'd be much happier improving the quality and depth of the squad and for playing at a higher level more consistently.

I agree. I actually think we're much better staying away from the £80m mega signings - get the foundations right first, and then add those one or two final pieces to the jigsaw.

I mean, yeah. The club made 40m profit. They have debt which they have to repay every year regardless of whether they make profits or losses.
Their expenses will be the interest payments (which I'm assuming is more than 40m) and their transfers.

But a 40m profit because of cost cutting measures is still massive progress. Especially considering we've not had European football and our league position.

I strongly believe in hire and fire. I've worked in companies where job security is high and they tend to have the worst work culture. Women have mentioned to me about sexual harassment being common.
That made sense to me - if people don't get fired easily they'll do whatever the fuck they want.
Keane mentioned something about United staff hiring their mates to look after them - that probably contributed to the bloat. The work culture probably would have been shit too but I'm speculating.
