More interesting angle for me is that if the verdict is guilty on some of the charges (we all know they're guilty), then it opens up the prospect of other clubs suing Abu Dhabi. Now obviously, setting out to sue people with infinite wealth is probably suicidal for your case, but the prospect of it happening at least brings yet more tarnish. If the gov move to renewables quickly, which it apparently is due to the war in Iran, then we'll be less dependent on the UAE for energy and the gov can get tougher. That's will be a while though.

The families said the gov is literally shit scared of offending em cos of trade deals.

Isn't it just the Chelsea owners course-correcting? Trying to clean up their image as much as possible by making friends with Ukrainian clubs, signing Ukrainian players and holding charity events for Ukraine.

One of those where it's cynical but the result is actually a good thing too.
