Even in that 30 goal season, his general gameplay was still shit except that he scored a lot of goals. He did this in his last year of his contract.
You should give a fuck about his attitude because he's not a successful player either (for his wages or any big club)
Modern fans see the league and champo as the be-all and end-all but those medals alone make Rashford more successful than about 80% of all the players ever to play for us. The rest either played exclusively under Fergie or Busby.
I'm not going to argue that he was a great player, I won't even argue that he was a consistently good player, but he wasn't as shit as has seemingly been decided. It's just revisionism. People projecting forward the hype and then blaming the player for not living up to it. Absolute bog-standard British media shite, build em up to knock em down. We don't even see how toxic and abnormal it is to treat sportspeople like that.
Oh and by the way, he was at his old primary school today giving every kid there a christmas present. Nothing to do with the club. Not a PR exercise. Planned months back because he's just a fucking good lad. All the evidence we have for his "attitude" is media speculation and some cunts on twitter trying to claim they can read his body language. Martial got the same treatment. It all came about after Jose started routinely blaming them both for all our ills.
Apparently Rashford hinted heavily in an interview earlier that he's looking for a fresh start so it's looking nailed on that he's off. I wish him all the best. He's spent 20 years at his boyhood club, has won trophies at the top level and provided fans with memories they will cherish. When it comes down to it, that's precisely what fans should give a fuck about. But no, all modern fans give a shit about is transfers.
How dare he ever try to ensure poor kids are fed.
He is something like 7 goals from being inside our all time top 10 scorers.
He's had his issues, but anyone who just comes out and says he's shit, is talking shit.
is rashford gonna make it then

Barca are interested. They're broke as fuck and struggling to pay the bills, so doing business with them is dodgy. Berrada needs to make sure they actually have the dosh, otherwise move on.

100% on board with him going, A confident and motivated Rashford is very good in a transitional side, but he’s one dimensional and clearly needs a change. He doesn’t appear to have the work ethic Amorim (and all top clubs) demand, and I question the timing and need for him to give this interview. It’s selfish and self indulgent, and smacks to me to having a strop or throwing the towel in after being dropped for the Derby. And now what, if he ends up having to stay till May? It creates the optics of an issue, needlessly.
Take the money, bin him off, rebuild. There are literally no more than 4 or 5 players I’m wedded to absolutely keeping,

There's been no revisionism from me. Perhaps 7 years later when we have the same conversation about Garnacho, people will shout revisionism but I've been calling out his issues since the last couple of seasons when he's been favoured by, both the media and the ranters here. I've also called him a good goal scorer but that's not the issue with Garnacho.Felwin wrote: ↑1 year ago2 FA Cups, 2 League Cups and a Europa League.dozer wrote: ↑1 year ago Nah. Those Rashford medals are nothing for his wages. Welbeck also had a league title but in different ways, he wasn't a good player for us. But he wasn't a key player. If Rashford was someone like Wes Brown or O'Shea, I wouldn't be that bothered.
If I'm paying for an iPhone, I expect much more than a mid or low end phone. That's true for people as well. As a consumer I care about his performances. The club are paying him premium prices and he's not, and he's never really delivered anything close to that value.
His charity work is his personal matter. I don't care about who players date, if he sleeps with his brother's wife for a decade, if he funds kids etc. There's some mild entertainment to be had there as news but I don't think much about it. Why should we care about the media narrative? Why should we idolise or despise people? I can admire or criticise someone's qualities and in the case of Rashford, he's never been good. He's just had flashes of form. I've been saying we must get rid, not hurt him personally unlike some fans advocate for someone they don't like.
Ffs, we can see and opine on a player's performances. That's all it is. Anything outside of the pitch is mostly just noise.

I thought it was interesting that Rashford told Henry Winter that he feels he's been misunderstood (where people have accused him of a lack of professionalism).
Didn't the club discipline him more than once? I'd be curious to know what he has to say about that. He clearly wasn't doing what the club expected of him at those specific times. I'm sure he'll do a proper sit down interview one day.
But I don't think he's been the only player who's been pilloried in recent years. Look at the abuse and ridicule Maguire has had
Phil Jones as well, albeit to a lesser extent. I'm not saying it's right or anything.
Rashford has achieved a heck of a lot more than most other players who come through the ranks at United, and that should be applauded. When all the noise fades away, people will look back on the goals he scored. Some of us might even forget about the rubbish performances and days where he was strutting about the pitch half arsedly.
But it's disappointing that things have reached a stage where the fight has left him or the club has decided that it won't put up with his attitude/performances. One of those things.
He's clearly an incredibly gifted player and, on his day, he's unstoppable. I don't think anyone can question his talent. But he's frustratingly inconsistent.
A move away from the club is probably in everybody's best interests. I wish Rashford well.

He didn't "give" the interview in some sort of arranged way like Rooney and Ronaldo both did, wasn't he at the primary school and got asked the questions?JoelfuckingGlazer wrote: ↑1 year ago 100% on board with him going, A confident and motivated Rashford is very good in a transitional side, but he’s one dimensional and clearly needs a change. Fair, you could argue he could've said "no comment" but he's chosen to answer and it's all respectful and he doesn't explicitly say "i'm off". He clearly states that it doesn't bother him that he was dropped and that he just has to keep working hard. I don't get how that is inferred as a strop?
Amorim absolutely spot on with how to approach it.

Asked about Rashford's desire for a "new challenge", Amorim said: "He is right. We have here a new challenge, the biggest in football, we are in a difficult situation. I hope all my players are ready."

Yeah he was disciplined 3 times under Hag. Also we've all got eyes. We've seen him literally do nothing in games. There's a clip going round of a Manchester derby where he stands still as a City player heads the ball. He didn't contest it. That happens quite often.sheesh wrote: ↑1 year ago I thought it was interesting that Rashford told Henry Winter that he feels he's been misunderstood (where people have accused him of a lack of professionalism).

For me he suits counterattacking football where he doesn't have to press and has space to run into. He played his best stuff under Ole.
The latest is he was sent home from Carrington on Monday with a high temp. So that might be the last we see him. Having said that, it's gonna be hard to shift him... And it also sounds like the "new challenge" comment was said in passing, so he's not necessarily out the door yet.
Completely agreeFuB wrote: ↑1 year ago Amorim absolutely spot on with how to approach it.
