Aye Jason, not new that other clubs get a free pass on stories which would be "yet another sign of how far they've fallen" if it'd been us involved.
Came here to make a similar point actually. Not an original thought but why aren't Liverpool and Havertz getting more flak after losing 3 games and basically being shite since March (coasted to the title and through the first few games of this season)? If that'd been us, Havertz would've been a waste of money already, Slot-ball would be getting picked apart, think pieces would be being written about the backroom staff, boardroom dynamics and finances. Amorim may sound weak when he moans about the media, but there's an element of truth in how mental they behave towards us and how it dramatises everything, keeping us in this perpetual state of "great for headlines".

Liverpool play electric football and fight for major honours so they won't get the same shit from the media. They also don't shift as many units.Felwin wrote: ↑4 months ago Aye Jason, not new that other clubs get a free pass on stories which would be "yet another sign of how far they've fallen" if it'd been us involved.

United drives more revenue, has wider reach, probably to wealthier demographics too. Plus we're in chaos. Hopefully that's stabalising now. But even when Liverpool were in the wildnerness, they weren't as fucked as us on or off the pitch. United have fallen much further than any other major club eg Milan. We've also seen the hollowing out of the club in that time. All of which means United get more shit. It's a bigger, more shocking, more serious story that reaches more people and gives an ailing media - which is being destroyed by the internet and AI - some meaning and purpose.
I know Jason has beef with it, and rightly so. But I just accept it comes with the territory. I think you have to be mindful of letting the media's approach to United warp your reality. They're loving saying we're shit, but we are actually shit. It's also true the media are cunts.
I guess my 1st post wasn't just about how the press would behave if it was utd, and more so the absurdity of having built a brand new state of the art stadium, and having to then go back in less than 20 years to spend more than the original build on an expansion. Its really really bad foresight and planning.Fuck the Glazers wrote: ↑4 months agoLiverpool play electric football and fight for major honours so they won't get the same shit from the media. Side note, I do wonder how long will likes of wirtz be given, before there's even a question over the deal!
About this, Wirtz will most likely be a huge flop.
They should be more worried about Isak. Unlike Ekitike, he's not started off well.

They're on for a City-like meltdown this season. Slot's going to be under pressure after Liverpool spent half a billion. This team is more his than the one he won the league with which still had Klopps fingerprints all over it.
Arsenal have to be title favourites. If they're still up there in January, they might actually do it.
We could be on for top 4 as well. Tbf as I typed that I lost all belief.

Liverpool concede from another long throw. They're effective once more, along with long balls.
Looks like the era of high risk attacking football is coming to an end. It's less effective. We're seeing a return to old ideas as well as pragmatism.
Some stuff will remain, like intense pressing and between-the-lines play. But there is a definite change happening.
