Looks like the era of high risk attacking football is coming to an end. It's less effective. We're seeing a return to old ideas as well as pragmatism.

Some stuff will remain, like intense pressing and between-the-lines play. But there is a definite change happening.
It makes sense tbf. Back in the 80s and 90s it was pretty much a monoculture tactically so having better players + marginal gains were a big thing. Nowadays it's the same with building up from the back and pressing. There are different flavours to it, but most teams want to arrive at the same point, so finding other ways to game the system can really make a difference.

Regarding the scousers, I've barely seen them play but Ed on the pod said they're basically Ten Hag-ball with better players. If that's true, it's fucking hilarious. Scousers thought they'd found the second coming of Klopp, but Slot ends up being Ten Hag with a sense of humour.

As I write this, it's now 3-2 so they might save face, but still, they're in crisis.

Ten Hag with a sense of humour lol I think that's possibly worse than not having a sense of humour.

It's their worst start for 32 years. Their wins at the start of the season were often due to last minute winners. They got out of jail but their problems were evident.

Liverpool are United-like in how they've burned through half a bil but got worse, and, possibly hired the wrong bloke at the wrong time. Like Amorim, he'll have to figure it out.

Really hope it carries on. I was saying in the summer it's about time another club spunked loads of money and got worse instead of better. I'm fairly certain Wirtz in particular will be a top player in time but maybe he's one of those that needs a team built around him.

Either way, there's an easy way to beat Liverpool at the moment by pinging it long and practicing set pieces. Konaté looks about as average as a lot of our defenders in the last decade and I thought Van Dijk was the best defender ever to grace the game? He's become very shit very quickly.

Arsenal are 6 points clear of City and 7 of Liverpool

As they say you can't win the league in the first part of the season, but you can lose it. City and Liverpool could end up so far behind that Arsenal walk the league.

The 115 charges look irrelevant compared to this

Basically the genocide Mansour is directly funding in Sudan is so big the blood can be seen from space. It's created the biggest humanitarian crisis on earth - bigger than the destruction of Gaza.

He should be removed from City the way Abramovic was

Ronay is spot on here. Where is the outrage? Really feels like the outrage over Abramovic was just convenient as Russia became a pariah overnight, but because the UAE is a massive economic partner, we don't want to upset them. Dictionary definition of a toxic relationship.

But alas, most City fans will say it's based on jealousy and no club is clean so we should just let them off. OR as Ronay says, they aren't even aware because it's an inconvenient truth.

Spot on. And cos they're a big trade partner, they'll get away with a slap on the wrist at best.

What fucks me off about City fans is they're more concerned about the new ticketing structure / pricing than this. They held up a banner to protest. But nowt about genocide.

Chelsea fans still think Abramovic is a hero despite the fact his employer and mate, Putin, regularly threatens to nuke them / Britain. They even shot a missile at an RAF jet. I guess this is the power of sport-washing.

Funnily enough, I was speaking to a City mate fairly recently and I was thinking his anger over ticket prices seemed very performative. I got a "the lady doth protest too much" vibe from him, like he was trying to show he wasn't hot on the UAE owners but choosing something safe rather than having to deal with the cheating, corruption and genocide-funding.

Honestly I get it to some extent. It's the same with the current situation in Israel/Palestine. Plenty of people just find it too complex and too sad to even think about, so just try to ignore it and live their life.

But the day a City fan actually puts their head above the parapet and criticises the corruption and cheating... Now won't that be something? The amount of "technicalities" I've heard and read when it comes to the CAS ruling etc. and the same thing is happening with the 115 charges. A screenshot of a couple of paragraphs that say "no evidence" or a small ruling on part of the case will be enough for them to claim innocence/conspiracy.

Scott Mctominay has been playing like prime Maradona since he moved to Italy.

What a goal for Scotland: https://x.com/BBCSportScot/status/19908 ... eCt9w&s=19

I watched the final 15mins of this game. It was crazy.
Great quality of goals, and Dorgu popped up with a really composed finish to level it for the Danes. Apparently thats his 2nd in 5 euro qualifiers, could do with him replicating that for us!

And yeah, the mct goal was something else.
