BREAKING: Chelsea & Enzo Maresca part company - head coach leaves with immediate effect. Position deemed untenable. #CFC expect to name replacement from small number of candidates in next few days; Rosenior contender, Glasner not in frame @TheAthleticFC

He leaves just before the City match. 2 points off top 4.

Chelsea are a shambles. I heard one of their fans eloquently rage in an interview. He said Chelsea have become a player trading scheme. They're not interested in success, just buying & selling players for a profit.

If Uncleknobheadffs was still on here, he'd be saying that it's a disgrace that Maresca has gone before Amorim.

It would be hard to disagree.

Maresca told Chelsea he's recently spoken to City about replacing Pep - according to the guardian. So they axed him.

I just seen this when scanning Maresca news.
Since 2022, these are the Chelsea Manager payouts.
2022 Tuchel - 13m
2023 Potter - 13m
2024 Pochettino - 13m

Maresca would have been another 14m for 2025, but he walked, meaning they get a free pass on that one. Its mental when you see it in black and white. We only think we are badly run.

According to Kieran Maguire, they're paying for it with a 500m PIK loan - similar to the one that nearly sent United under. Theirs is much bigger though.

They've also been charged by the FA for cheating essentially. Think the Prem are also investigating the cheating and corruption under Abramovic.

Feels like Chelsea are a bomb waiting to explode.

Madrid have sacked Xabi Alonso for losing the Supercup and being second in the league to Barca.

Yet some are defending Amorim's 30% win ratio as part of the process.

Imagine if we still had standards

I think most of us, understandably, still use a historic frame of reference for where we expect the club and ourselves to set standards. I think the sad reality, is that in every sense of the word what we are now, is a different club to the one we all fell in love with. Literally. We're a fallen giant, saddled with debt, incompetent leadership, a sub standard squad, a decaying ground, and the loss of general esteem and reputational gloss. Our standards now, fit the profile and ethos of what Manchester United now is.

Unfortunately you're probably right. I know they're run by a nutcase, but the gulf between their standards and ours is crazy and sackings like this one always bring it into focus.
