Stop turning this into a "I was right all along" rant dozer, I was with you before the final, it was bullshit from that Guardian reporter. Didn't believe it at the time myself either. But the way you've laid out what "happened" is just as speculative as the reporters you're moaning about.
We'll never know what happened tbf, could've been a ploy to try and find who's been leaking to the press. Could've even been a city adjacent journo/source spreading rumours to throw United off in the final. Wouldn't put anything beyond Abu Dhabi at the moment. Doesn't matter now anyway.
The "review" wasn't a leak or fake news though, that was an actual statement from the club, was it not? The cynic in me still thinks they used it to cool off for a few weeks and test the water and have only laid the plans out to Hag once they were certain other managers wouldn't fit/be available/be popular. The fact Hag said after the final that they'd told him they were planning to build with him is meaningless, you don't tell someone they're going to be sacked before a final. Even Woodward waited until full time in 2016. IMO they hadn't decided anything 100% but were heavily leaning towards sacking him if we'd lost the final. When you hear Ratcliffe in interviews, he seems painfully aware of how shit the Glazers have been with these decisions, so taking 2-3 weeks to cool off distances him and Ineos from that kind of knee-jerk decision the fans roundly hated.
Ineos are happy to take their time. Honestly, I find it to be their best quality so far. So easy to get caught up in the daily social media noise but they just go about their business, getting all their ducks in a row. Does it mean we'll start winning titles again? No, but it's a damn sight better than the Glazers putting financiers in charge and putting all the players on 5 year mega contracts. Only problem is the recruitment/sales this summer. I can't see more than 3 new players personally. I just hope they're ruthless with the outgoings. Even if it means getting them out the door on a free and covering half their wages, it's the signal it sends to the rest that's important.
Erik Ten Hag
Yep, now you know what they can and cannot get right.swampash wrote: ↑3 months agoSo you were never in the running then either, dozer?dozer wrote: ↑3 months agoOr he was never being sacked in the first place.swampash wrote: ↑3 months agoThe lesser of two evils?Fuck the Glazers wrote: ↑3 months ago Orstein says Ten Hag stays as United manager. Ineos have decided.
Rather Hag than Southgate.
Ratcliffe said in an interview that managers weren't given the environment to succeed at united.
Ratcliffe said in an other interview that arteta was given time.
Ten Hag said in the fa cup pre match interview that the club told him they're planning to build with him next season.
Ornstein said he has no clue what's going on with the ten hag situation a couple of days ago.
All of this fits with ten hag extending his contract and that this decision was made months ago.
This review news is nonsense. The journos are trying to save face by indicating that they were right in reporting that United wanted to sack him, that they met with other managers, Tuchel was out of the running etc. Now they'll say, "oh, the club had a review and they've decided to keep him after almost sacking him" - they had no clue. Somehow the contract news has gotten leaked from inside the club. They've had no other leaks and they've made shit up all along. The guardian led the way - like I said once they're no better than the daily mail or the sun. But they've been worse.
Shame, but at least the Guardian got that right…
You're welcome.
What are you on about? I didn't claim that something happened at United, did I?Felwin wrote: ↑3 months ago Stop turning this into a "I was right all along" rant dozer, I was with you before the final, it was bullshit from that Guardian reporter. The club made no statement about a review about the manager or anything related afaik. If they have, I'd like to see a link.

I think they'll axe Hag pretty quickly if we're still shit next season. I don't think him staying on is a long term appointment. Next season the landscape will look different and changing manager may be easier.
The priority for the Ineos bros is appointing experts, making the club profitable again and building a new ground. The football on the pitch will come last. Got to get the rest right first, like actually having some money to spend.

Looks like Ruud is gonna join as a coach alongside Rene Hake
IMO Ineos are hiring Ruud to be there as a back up if/when United are still shit next season. They'll sack Hag November / December time and give it to Ruud. It'll be really interesting to see how he does.

Rene Hake has a bit of a reputation. I'd love him to bring a bit of this to United.
