Xavi, Southgate, Xabi Alonso.

Who knows, Ancelotti might become available at the end of the season.
I was thinking that when Madrid were playing the other night. They might shit the bed in the league, but knowing them, they'll win the CL and he'll stay on.

Ancelotti is a very good shout though cos Madrid are the only other box office club like United that's truly massive and also batshit. Madrid also have no defined style of play. They can't implement a modern style. But Ancelotti has got them playing and winning major honours. He makes it work, and he can handle the size of the club and the egos.

Tactical anlysis of Ruben Amorim

https://x.com/FathalliMohamed/status/18 ... 1976616355

Sounds like he's more defensively sound than Hag. Plays 343 that slips into a 451 when out of possession. We could use a lot of the players we have now. Ugarte was key in his set up.

I wonder whether this has been in the offing for a while? Certainly makes the Ugarte signing make more sense.

Apparently Amorim's release clause is 16.6m euros, but we're one of 7 named clubs that halve that value. So he's available for just over 8m. It's happening.

I think our squad could be ideal for his 343 system.

We need a left back anyway, but Dalot and Mazroui are ideal wing backs. De ligt as the central, ball playing defender. Martinez on the left, York on the right. Ugarte and Mainoo in the middle and Rashford and Bruno as inside forwards behind Hojlund. Feels much more balanced.

These tactical analysis articles do not post any weaknesses. Only strengths. It's hard to take these seriously.

Dalot is shit as a starting right back or wing back.
Mazraoui is decent but he should play as a right back.
But I suppose we'll have to do with these two for the season.

I found this helpful. The full version includes flaws in his approach https://x.com/UtdPaper_/status/1850975124784366079

Sounds like he's a modern manager that has put his own mark on it, like building up with 7 at the back (more defensive) and overloading half spaces in the channels. Sometimes he manages to get 5 in attack.

The players are going to have to take on board a lot of info and then carry it out every week - like they did under Hag, Gaal, Rangnick. It never materialised. Don't want to shit on the party but I have my doubts whether it will with Amorim. Maybe having competent experts behind the scenes will change that.

I'd give anyone a chance but Amorim feels wrong. Back 5? Defensive?

If we become an exciting counter attacking team like some of Fergie's, fair enough. But there's a risk it'll be stale boring shite.

Cheers for that.

Fingers crossed that he will be the guy to turn things around if he gets the job.
