Daft Questions Asked By News Presenters

For a while I have noticed that some news presenters ask the most bizarre questions or insensitive questions or just plain pointless questions.

Today on Sky News, someone covering the Sarah Jane Mee Show which started at 2:30, possibly Saima Mohsin is interviewing a Liverpool MP about the 9 year old girl that got shot dead there last night.

Her question... Do the kids of Liverpool deserve better? :wall:

Errr this is something that happens all across the country - and it should not be happening.

It has nothing to do with 'deserving better' she ain't chatting to someone about the end of free school meals or something that can be fixed in Parliament FFS.

Last year it was Laura Kissemburg on the BBC asking Covid questions to Boris Johnson 'can you understand the frustration of people not being able to go on holiday abroad to get away from it all' - get away from it all :wall: all the other countries had Covid and lock downs too... even if they didn't have Covid they wouldn't be letting ya take it there on ya holidays lovey.

No wonder people like Boris Johnson and Donald Trump can stand there and look into the eyes of a reporter - tell him/her a blatant lie while knowing him/her knows it's a lie.

Dear news channels... please do better!

It’s a problem across all news channels these days. I’ve always been an avid watcher of Newsnight but since Emily Maitlis left the quality has absolutely plummeted. Seems more and more interviewers have a pre-prepared list of questions, which they work through without engaging in probing what the interviewee is saying. I think they often don’t even listen to the interviewees‘ answers because they are busy reading their next question.

Maitlis revealed the Tories are actively shaping BBCs news coverage and gave an example from when she worked there. It's nowt new obviously. Alistair Campbell, Peter Mandelson etc. But this Tory lot seem particularly good at it, giving hacks fake exclusives, personal threats, threats to pull BBC funding etc.

And of course the majority of powerful people in the media went to the same private schools and Oxbridge as the politicians so they're one and the same - often former classmates. Fuck the lot

Agreed and good point about them not listening to the interviewee, sometimes they will ask a question that the person has just answered so that fits in with what you're saying

It's amazing how if someone publishes a TV advert that gives the wrong impression it will quickly get scrutinised by Ofcom, yet news outlets seem able adjust the narrative of stories on a regular basis and that's allowed.

Samantha Washington was on Sky News about an hour ago and she got Liam Thorpe on from the Liverpool Echo,

She says... 'we are going to talk now about the arrests in connection with the shooting of Olivia in Liverpool' - then introduces Liam.

She then says... 'we can't talk to much about the arrests so we'll come to that shortly'

Her 1st question is about the Liverpool community being strong.
Her 2nd question is about... 'people of Liverpool not being willing to talk'
Her 3rd question is... 'There's been 3 people shot dead in Liverpool in the last week what's going on?'

He answers, says until this week there nobody in Liverpool had been shot dead in however long and it's important to stress Liverpool isn't a dangers place etc.

She then says... 'Thanks for joining me Liam' and then moves onto the next news item.

What about the information about the arrests? that's the reason she said she was bringing Liam onto the show.

No mention of... if the community is relieved now arrests have been made... No mention of... the ages of the arrestees... Nothing at all.

Just her asking questions that hinted Liverpool is a bad place or people in Liverpool are reluctant to help the police.

No wonder channels like GB News... where the picture quality often looks like it's recorded on a phone camera... or the studios look like converted bedrooms... or the person they are interviewing is sitting at his computer in the bedroom smoking and having a beer while he's chatting! :)) :)) :)) :)) ... are getting more viewers.

Is it good?

Do you know what the deal is with Global? They've poached loads of high profile media figures.

Everyone's fucked off with news for various reasons. Talk (shit) radio is more popular than ever particularly cos of this culture war nonsense the right are pushing to distract from the fact the class war is rodgering us all and many won't be able to heat or eat this winter.

In other news the BBC plan to close BBC News as part of having 500m savings enforced upon them. This has prompted possible strike action from staff. Fair play but also fuck BBC News and all who sail in her.

You have to laugh though as the beeb have been incredibly obedient to the Tory gov for over a decade, and this their reward; annihilation

Faintly disappointed so far Sid. Think they may have set too high a hurdle for themselves with daily podcasts. Time will tell.
