Rio's said what I was thinking, that there's a whiff of Seedorf about Mainoo in how he makes playing in midfield look simple, is unhurried, very well balanced, and is becoming a really strong athlete.

Arsenal and Chelsea spent over 100m each on Rice and Caicedo, we might have got a steal.

Fuck. I had to miss, perhaps the most entertaining game of the season. Kobbie is already my favourite player. He reminds me a bit of Scholes but he's probably more like Veratti.

I am a bellend. Switched it off after the McT goal because I was knackered and thought it was game over. Saw the score this morning and when the goals were scored... missed a cracking last 15!

Quality goal from Mainoo. 2 really good finishes in the space of 4 days. Seems more and more like an all-rounder. I was getting Scholes vibes myself last night but I can also see Seedorf and Carrick with his composure and decision making. Scholes was a bit more chaos and goals at his age, Mainoo is almost more mature than he was.

Who needs Bellingham when you’ve got Mainoo!

I too missed the game but kept up with the scores. Didn’t help I was out with some scousers and they took great joy when it was 3-3

Carrick definintely, in how he knits play by keeping it simple. We badly needed that in our disjointed, chaotic team. But he's also got good technique in tight areas as you saw with the goal. He can finish too. He's a proper useful, sensible, quality player.

His technique, positioning and physique will develop over the next few years so he should get better and better. If the club can get their shit together under Ineos, we should be able to give him the platform he deserves.

It was the wee nutmeg to open up the space for the goal.

Pure class, let's hope he can keep getting better and better, Could be best academy player we've had in a long time.

Midfielder-wise, he’s definitely more sensible than Pogba and less flashy than almost all the other recent graduates bar maybe Lingard, who was functional but not the required quality.

Like Sid says, he might be breaking through at the perfect time to benefit from some good leadership (fingers crossed). Part of the problem with the other recent graduates is the rewarding of mediocrity/rewarding before they’ve achieved anything with massive long contracts.

How shit is Antony? I rewatched from 85 mins onwards, the only positive thing he did was put in a tackle by the touchline.

With EVERY other touch he lost the ball or slowed down the play. Watching him run with it is embarrassing.
