I thought I'd start a new thread since it's now ratified and things are starting to happen.
I know Dan Ashworth news was mentioned but I couldn't find it, highlighting that we could do with a thread that centres around the hopeful proper rebuild of the club. Ashworth has been put out on gardening leave so is pretty much a certainty:

Good shout.
I heard a great phrase the other day; With the arrival of SJR, Brailsford, Blanc, Berada, Ashworth, United are about to be hit by a tidal wave of competency.
I'm genuinely excited about our future for the first time in 15 years.
It'll be interesting to see how United handle the Ashworth hire. Because rumours are that Newcastle want 10-20m in compensation, with a similar rumour that United won't pay it. I've heard a few pundits and fans say 'just pay it, he'll save us that in one window alone'. Whilst that's true, I don't think United will, or should. I think they've reset on not overpaying for anyone, in any role. Once he's on Garden Leave, he's free to unofficially spend his time as he wants, so he'll be in the background 'working' anyway. So no, don't over-pay, use him on the QT and set our stall out for how we conduct business now.

I hope this new era means we feel more connected with the club again. I've felt detached and powerless for a long time, from the original debt ladened takeover which they want us to pay off, to the European super league. It's the worst thing about the Glazers' type of ownership.

Sounds like this Dan Ashworth cunt is another major coup, like Berrada
I'm listening to the Athletic's podcast on him. He was handpicked by NUFC to be the architect of the football side of the club and turn them into a world class outfit. He oversaw 9 departments. They even paid Brighton compensation to get him.
He was 20 months into building his vision, taking a shitload of Saudi coin, and then has one chat with Ratcliffe and fucks them off lol
Ratcliffe & co have come into English football and fucked things up. They've royally pissed off City & Pep, now Howe & the Saudis who are our future rivals. Howe's press conference was similar to Peps; bristling. Relationships have been ruined over this, it's fucking great
All's fair in love and war, especially when you're dealing with states

I'm loving it too. They think their money makes them untouchable, but it turns out people are more motivated by what feels right. It's why people are so indifferent about City's success; it's devoid of any real spirit, football by numbers. If Liverpool or Arsenal had won the treble, I'd have been borderline distraught for a bit, having lost a bit of what made the 90s so special. With City's treble, I literally don't give a shit. It doesn't matter.Fuck the Glazers wrote: ↑6 months ago Sounds like this Dan Ashworth cunt is another major coup, like Berrada

Making United top dog again is too big an opportunity to turn down and these cunts we're sniping from the Saudis and Abu Dhabi know it in their heart of hearts.
If we pay 10-20m for a fucking director of football which is unprecedented then it'll further cement our place as the biggest suckers when it comes to player (and now staff) negotiations. That'll tell us a lot about how Ineos function.
If this happens I'd apply for a job as the official club stripper for 500k per annum. They'll likely agree.

I don't think they're going to. There will be compensation - NUFC paid Brighton around 5m to pinch Ashworth from them. We'll pay more but probably not much more.dozer wrote: ↑6 months ago If we pay 10-20m for a fucking director of football which is unprecedented then it'll further cement our place as the biggest suckers when it comes to player (and now staff) negotiations. United have quite a strong hand.
Ashworth is on gardening leave so there's no one steering the NUFC ship. That means NUFC have to act quickish to get a replacement and build an entire new plan. Ashworth is also on full pay, so they're not gonna keep him hanging around for long, especially when they're hampered by FFP.
We also have to consider FFP. But the one place we absolutely fucking need to spend money is expertise. Brains. Competence. 20m would get you a shit player that would make little impact. But it could get you a top DoF that can help transform the club. We need the latter, so that's where we need to spend money rather than 80m on Maguire, 86m on Anthony, 19m a year on Varane etc.
We could build an elite backroom infrastructure for half Maguire's transfer fees.
Clubs also know we're desperate for competence so they're gonna make us pay for it. Part of undoing the damage left behind by the Glazers.
