The athletic are shit now. Ornstein is reliable but athletic have turned into a sun/guardian/daily mail type of news site. I guess they were not making enough money the old wayFuck the Glazers wrote: ↑4 months agoThat's worrying tbf cos the Athletic are reliable. Also Turki wouldn't just make stuff up out of the blue. So it does seem like moves are being made in the background.sheesh wrote: ↑4 months ago I don't think this is the last we'll hear of interest in United, whether or not there's anything in this story.

Also worrying, the UAE are on that list of potential interested parties. What the fuck.
Ratcliffe, INEOS and the future

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, via United Stand, Cantona has held direct talks over potentially taking up an ambassadorial role that would see him back a prospective consortium in a bid for United. Other former players have also been contacted, but it would not be with a view to invest.
Ed on the pod seems to think all of the takeover stuff is bullshit. But it seems like something is stirring. It could be to do with the new stadium. United sent a delegation to Saudi to drum up investment.
If the financial rags start reporting this stuff, it's probably legit.

I'm leaning towards the "it's bullshit" argument.Fuck the Glazers wrote: ↑4 months ago According to journalist Ben Jacobs, via United Stand, Cantona has held direct talks over potentially taking up an ambassadorial role that would see him back a prospective consortium in a bid for United. The club was publicly up for sale for quite some time and they couldn't strike a deal to sell the whole thing. They had to settle for Ineos. The Arabs had their chance to invest then but even then a deal didn't materialise. Why would anything change now when the ownership has gotten more complicated, poorer results and when the club isn't publicly up for sale?

The guardian are running with it now
Eric Cantona asked to front Manchester United takeover bid by UAE consortium
https://www.theguardian.com/football/20 ... consortium
Looks like the UAE are going to use ex players to front a takeover bid to get fans on side and pretend it's not a state bid. I hope Cantona stays true to his values and says no.

If the guardian is reporting it then it's most likely false.Fuck the Glazers wrote: ↑4 months ago The guardian are running with it now

He always talks sense, it's just actioning it and creating observable change
Have to say I love how they're all coming out and doing press cos we've won 3 in a row lol
One thing from this, during the bad run of results, there was a lot of talk (here /media/online in general) that Amorim had lost the squad, and morale/mood would have been down the toilet based on the results, it was time for him to go etc.Fuck the Glazers wrote: ↑3 months agoHe always talks sense, it's just actioning it and creating observable change

Maybe Wilcox is full of shit, but when the interviewer mentions it, he states they've always had good spirits on the training ground, and its not dampened by 1 or 2 results, they can see the bigger picture.
This was one of my biggest arguments, no-one knows outside of the squad, what the mood is/was like, and its this negative online hyperbole that accelerates 1 or 2 bad results into an online/media crisis, when in reality, the squad were fine and are fully behind Amorim.
Every time there are bad results, we hear this. The manager doesn't matter. Whoever it is, the narrative is that the players aren't playing for the manager, they don't trust his process, there is internal rift etc.Jason wrote: ↑3 months agoOne thing from this, during the bad run of results, there was a lot of talk (here /media/online in general) that Amorim had lost the squad, and morale/mood would have been down the toilet based on the results, it was time for him to go etc.Fuck the Glazers wrote: ↑3 months agoHe always talks sense, it's just actioning it and creating observable change

People believe it because it makes sense intuitively - but these are usually unverifiable news. What's verifiable upto an extent is transfer news, and we know that every news site, apart from a handful of individual journos is full of shit. So why should we trust the news when they give us unverifiable reports? The likelihood is that it's bullshit, just an educated guess under the veneer of a report..

It's great having actual football people in charge, watching training and working with the manager to a plan.Fuck the Glazers wrote: ↑3 months agoHe always talks sense, it's just actioning it and creating observable change

Sounds pretty basic, but we missed that for so many years.
