If you think about it, Fergie's players mostly seem subservient and timid. I suppose that's what made them great players because they were able to focus on getting better at their job. But that's part of their identity now and they've not grown out of it. Only Keane seems like the kind of guy who is strong enough to not tolerate bullshit and not engage in idol worship - he also seems like the most sensible of the lot.
What are you on about?

dozer has quite the penchant for telling us that various media outlets/newspapers are full of shit... until it doesn't suit him to do so, that is.

i'd actually been feeling a bit sorry for him lately as he's had his wacky bullshit wind-up machine going hammer and tongs this last month and has generally been flatly ignored by all of us. I'd almost started a "Spare a thought for poor dozer" thread.
NQAT's official artificial intelligence

I think what Dozer is trying to say is that he knew everything all along and that everyone else has no idea. What he knows and what everyone else knows changes between posts. - Felwin 31/10/2024

Ha. Funny you mention it as I'd noticed it too.

Remarkably early even for him in writing off Fletcher before he even takes charge of the 1-2 games he'll manage.

Robbo, Bruce, Hughes and Ince all became half-decent managers in their own right, partly through not taking any shit. Rio isn't afraid to be gobby in the media. Rooney is a fairly decent pundit who doesn't come across as timid whatsoever, quite the opposite. Evra, Giggs, Hargreaves, Butt, even quiet lad Scholes all speak their mind when you get to hear them (some of them we hear far too much from).

Your're basing this schtick on Ole being deferential to Fergie and now Fletcher having a conversation with him. It's obvious the media turn it into "Fletcher asks for SAF's blessings", like Fergie is the fucking Pope anointing him. It's just for clicks, mate. Put yourself in Fletcher's shoes. In a culture where ringing up old bosses and comrades is burnt in, wouldn't you give the greatest manager of all time a tinkle? A guy who trusted you in big games, made your CV amazing and stood by you and your family as your health and career fell apart? But no, apparently that makes him a massive pussy :))

Something we do agree on is Keano. I couldn't stand his gobbyness post United at first, but he is mostly right to demand more, and when he's wrong he's funny to listen to. He definitely likes playing the miserable twat with a wry smile, but there's a lot of substance to what he says too.
The media didn't say shit.
Watch his interview on sky. He literally says he took Fergie's blessings for the role or for any major decision.

Even Scholes, in one of the Overlap interviews said that the worst thing he's ever done is ask Fergie was a wage raise because Juve or someone else offered him a deal with massive wages. Fergie just said no and Scholes walked away without a word.

The players you mentioned are gobby and straightforward but not to everyone. They still have the reverential attitude when it comes to authority or their idols. I'm not saying they should be completely confrontational like Keane - it must be balanced.

Thanks everybody for the welcome back!

Amorim lost me with his tactics against 10 man Everton. There’s having a vision, and there’s having tunnel vision, and he turned out to have the second. The frustrating thing is the way the Prem has been this season, CL qualification was very attainable. I’m worried we’ve already wasted the opportunity by throwing away a huge amount of points against dross.

Seen some reports linking Sebastien Hoeness, no idea how good he is, but from external perspective, he seems to be a carbon copy or Amorim, in that hes the current inform/demand young manager, who is over achieving with his current club.

Does he prefer 4 at the back? Id fear we end up back here in 18-24 months

Is Hoeness any good?

If you look at his face, you can see Ten Hag in there, but also Amorim with the beard

Because of that I'm worried

There'll be a lot of guessing going on. I don't think even the club know who they most want yet, though the better journos seem to think priority 1 for the clubs selection criteria is experience of the PL. Personally I think we'll go for Tuchel.

Swampy loves Hoeneß. His football is great but I don't trust any fucker with the job TBF. There's no guarantee whatsoever with our talent for fucking up.

Sacking the manager is the strategy most clubs employ - it's like buying a lottery ticket. They hope the next manager will be the prophesised one. It's a monkey see, monkey do approach.

People were complaining about the system and the formation, like as if 4-3-3 post Fergie won us plenty of league titles.

Most clubs are struggling with their league position and managers keep losing their jobs disproportionately. There is no precedent for this strategy working - just look at the sheer number of clubs sacking their managers over and over again in the hope of winning the lottery.

Fletch has started well. Plays the forum's favourite formation, starts Mainoo over Case, subs in attackers and loses to the Brighton B team.
