So, this is it. Shit or bust time.
Can't say I'm in anyway confident.
Vs Bilbao
Final is in Bilbao so they'll have that motivation, they're a better team than us, in much better form, individually better in a few areas though none of their players are at Bruno's level if he fancies dragging us to another trophy.
Amorim's toughest test yet. Only Arsenal in the FA Cup comes close in terms of the mix of quality we face and mentality needed to get through the tie.
Not confident either but if we can get this pot, the CL place, extra cash and good feeling it generates will make the summer much less depressing. Fail and all the shite gets carried into next season.

Amorim's football works better in Europe. They don't seem to do their homework and exploit our weaknesses like they do in the Prem. Having said that, I can see this whole venture ending in disappointment cos that's what we're used to. A shit team is a shit team at the end of the day.

I honestly think the biggest factor in why we're so shit in the PL, aside from having piss poor forwards is the lack of physicality in the side. Amorim is right on that. Every other side looks bigger, stronger, quicker, more aggressive.
It's less the case in Europe, but by all accounts Athletic are known as very PL-like, and transition heavy. So I expect we'll get pumped. Onana will throw at least one in, and we don't have players who can score.

Amorim may be willing to abandon his system and not have us play us off the back as often, in the Europa because we actually have something big to lose here.
That alone will help our team because we're crap at build up play.
It'll be interesting to see if he does that tonight. I suspect we'll have a go at build up play in the first half and depending on the outcome, change tack in the second half.

In terms of physical attributes, our players are pretty strong and pacey.JoelfuckingGlazer wrote: ↑1 year ago I honestly think the biggest factor in why we're so shit in the PL, aside from having piss poor forwards is the lack of physicality in the side. Only Yoro (because of his age), Lindelof, Eriksen and Amad aren't physically strong, the rest are decent to good in terms of strength.
Only Maguire, De Ligt, Lindelof, Eriksen, Case and Zirkzee are slow. The others are quite pacey.
That's not bad. We do have a huge number of crocks though.
Among this list, Amad is good at using his body even in tight situations. He's not bullied off the ball. He's very good at retaining possession and getting past players or finding a good pass in tight, attacking situations. So his physical stature isn't an issue.
Maguire and Case have done well for us in spite of their lack of pace. Of course when they are isolated they will struggle but so will the pacy players. It just looks worse when the slow players are isolated.
If other teams look bigger, stronger and more aggressive, it's because we're struggling with team work and their high press, not because of the lack of physicality. Obviously we'll lose the ball and subsequently our positions will go haywire because our entire team will have to figure out what's going on and reassemble.
Even the players in their best physical shape would struggle when they can't play like a team and rely on moments of quality.

Should never have been signed and should never have been given new contracts - now we're relying on him in one of the biggest games in United's recent history
