I see the club are making moves for Sesko and as much as we need a goal scorer, we definitely need someone to play at DM who is better than Ugarte. But then I'm wondering if Amorim thinks Ugarte will be better in his 2nd season in the PL and whether they think Kone will be stepping up into the first team this season, in which case there's no point spending £80-100m on Baleba,
.
Always had at the back of my mind that Martinez could play DM. Might suit him better in a sitting position rather than having to cover wide, at pace, which he struggles for and is probably the reason for his last injury.
You seem to like the idea of pushing defenders into midfield. You wanted Lindelof to play in midfield as well, because he could pass. He really can't. Idk why Jose said that. A little bit of pressure and he'd lose the ball. He had a good long ball, but that's only when he's got plenty of time to make the pass. Anyway... these kind of moves are extremely rare because they seldom work out. Lindelof was terrible by his own standards in the couple of games he played there.

I didn't watch the game against Bournemouth but by all accounts, we looked really good. Controlled the game and played with aggression. Reports saying that Amorimball is more apparent now.

Genuinely very good performance. Very much tempering expectations and reminding myself it's pre season, but what I'm seeing - and hearing about spirit in the camp - is positive. Let's hope that continues.

For my sins I'm watching this everton game, we've been ok so far, some positives, but ugarte has been very very shaky.

Wayward passes, at fault for the goal, slipping and bringing on pressure.

I read the defence was shaky too.

Sounds a bit of a shit game tbh.

Our poorest performance of the tour. Shaky in defence and sloppy in possession, though we did have 2 or 3 really slick moves from back to front - case in point, the move that led to the penalty.

Still a lot of work to do, and we still need a couple of signings. Striker, midfield, keeper.

Is he still playing Amad at wingback?

He's our best most profitable attacking player so should be played in his best position IMO. Managers always do that to the best player; get em covering positions so they can fill a hole. But it makes them less effective at their main job.

From what I've read, Ugarte was abysmal again and Mainoo has a lot of work to do. I know things are heating up with Sesko, but I think we'll get rolled over by fit teams without a new midfielder. I get that Cunha and Mbeumo dropping in should help but any half-decent team will just press Ugarte, then we're fucked. IMO, he's only useful when we want someone to get stuck in and play it long, but then we need a striker who can make it stick. Will that be Sesko?

Makes sense why Amorim didn’t see Ugarte as a fit for his Sporting team and it’ll be the same now.

Yeah he was at wingback. Now I'm not sure about that one. People who seem to know Amorims style are basically saying the wing backs are wingers, not full backs, and we haven't really seen his style in force as yet. Let's see how it pans out.

I worry about midfield. As much as we need that striker, I think we need a midfielder more. We're still lacking physicality and real, top technical ability in those 6 positions.
