Looked like a team that's trying to unlearn a crap system.
That's how I saw it. I'll be honest, I was a little surprised by how negative the views have been on performance - I'm not saying it was great, but I don't think it was terrible. The intent to attack and get bodies forward, to play with tempo, was there. It was just ragged - from the start, it was as if we were chasing a game in the last 5 minutes. Didn't find the balance between urgency and control. And our defensive transitions were very poor - far too many spaces and not tight enough at all. That's partly down to quality, but its very much also down to a change in system. Until we add more quality and physicality in midfield, the defence won't be protected enough. Priority 1 for the next manager is improving us defensively without making us a defensive side. I'll be honest - I worry about Martinez. In possession he's quality, but as an actual defender I think he's average at best. And Yoro and Heaven have tons of potential, but they're raw and they're learning on the job in a struggling side.
