It's probably the right thing to do as we aren't going to get the likes of Enrique or Tuchel this summer and the rest of the available options are a bigger risk than keeping Carrick. As long as the Board give him a short contract and a cheap get out and the promise of a longer deal if he continues to deliver. Let's be real, we aren't going to win the PL or the CL in the next 2/3 years anyway, so if he can keep us in the top 4 and into the QF's in all the cup comps, then it'll be a success for now.

I think if they do as well in the next 2 windows as they did last summer, they can definitely win the league in 2027-28.

We lost so many points under Amorim in ways that were ridiculous. We wouldn't have been far off if we'd sacked him earlier. Easy to say that now, I suppose.

Broad agreement in place for Michael Carrick to become permanent head coach of Manchester United. Work continues between all parties to finalise contracts for Englishman & backroom staff after 2+1yr deal offered to former #MUFC midfielder @TheAthleticFC

2 years + 1 seems sensible. He's permanent but not 5 years permanent. It's in line with Ineos' 2 years to prove yourself or you're out rule.

I think this works for us. If things go tits up, we won't be shelling out a fortune in compensation. Contract is a reasonable length.
