I like Guimaraes. Hard bastard, good feet, direct on the ball. Feels like he can cover a lot of what Casemiro brings.

Could well be bollocks but let's see

Is he any good?
Yeah, he looks alright from whatever I've seen of him. But there have been rumours around Sandro Tonali leaving as well. Newcastle won't sell both players, surely .

If we do sign Bruno or Sandro, either one would fit into that bracket of proven Premier league performer that Ineos seem to like. So you'd think they will settle quite quickly.

I trust the judgment of Vivell, Wilcox, etc, whoever we get. They did well last summer.
Yeah, I trust them too tbh because the signings so far have been quality. We're due a dud soon, surely.

I'm also very much up for pulling apart this Saudi team. If Iran continues to bomb the entire oil & gas network in the middle east including Saudi Arabia then Newcastle won't have any money to spend to replace them :))

Looking like Abu Dhabi are going to gazump us on Anderson AND Tonali (if either were even interested anyway). This just a year after spending £100m+ on a new midfield and half a billion in 18 months.

Feels more and more like they're stockpiling to deny other clubs access to players, so they can ride out any punishment by making sure everyone else is shut out of top talent. I really fucking hope the PL grows a pair and punishes them big, meaning the plan backfires spectacularly because their players don't want to play in League 2, even if they're earning £1m a game offshore.

But judging by the Chelsea punishment for outright and blatant cheating, Abu Dhabi will get a £30m fine and 10 points deducted.

Ministers accused of being too fearful of offending Emirates to help Britons detained for sharing images of war

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/ ... n-conflict

If the gov are not going to challenge the UAE and protect british citizens, they're not going to allow punishments for rule breaking, law breaking etc. Ministers will be leaning heavily on the Prem. The Prem probably understand the assignment anyway.

Tonali has a gambling problem and what's worse is that he's apparently also been involved in encouraging younger players to do so.
Avoid even for free.

You're not familiar with his gambling situation?
His Wikipedia lists out his gambling allegations both by the Italian federation and English FA although I think the English FA allegations weren't proven or match fixing allegations werent proven - I can't recall.

Another player Fagioli said Tonali was the one who got him into this, although idk if that was established as a proven fact.

Another link speaking about other players being introduced to gambling by Tonali and Fagioli.

https://football-italia.net/fagioli-rew ... al-betting
Both Sandro Tonali and Fagioli were found recommending illegal gambling websites to other players, including Alessandro Florenzi and Zaniolo among others.
I don't know if this is again proven as a fact. But why risk it mate? He could be a terrible influence among our players when we should be cleaning house.

Tbf, the Tonali links seem to be coming from his agent anyway. I'm not saying we should sign him at all. Seen him play a few times and he quietly goes about his business but something stinks about going to Newcastle for the Saudi blood money then trying to force a move because they're not going to make the CL. Being ambitious is great, but he seems more like someone moving for the payout and the CL exposure.

Just read his wiki and it seems to be a real problem. Both the Italian FF and the English FA have sanctioned him for misconduct around betting.

Aye, Dozer. Steer clear.

This is purely coming from me and not from any online source ie I'm just speculating.

When I think more about it, people have their vices and his (on the surface) is gambling. The real issue is that he's not gambling on other areas like horses or chips, but on football and also I think his own matches. He's also apparently collaborating with other footballers, maybe even like a founding member (because his name is on the forefront of this crap). This makes match fixing a real concern.

He's not acting like a gambling addict, but like a business owner trying to build some kind of an illegal gambling network.
