There was a moment, somewhere around 15 minutes into Manchester United’s insipid performance against Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday, when Brazilian midfielder Anderson lofted a 50 yard pass forward. With space to turn on to his favoured left foot, and under no discernible pressure, the player had time to assess the situation before striking the ball a full 30 yards beyond the nearest United forward. After six years at Old Trafford, the only surprise in the moment was Anderson’s fitness to play yet another wasteful pass.
Deployed against Chelsea as the most forward of United’s curious midfield triumvirate, Anderson received the ball 46 times, made 36 passes – 32 successful – and lost possession on eight other occasions. He created no chances, took no shots and scored no goals. Plus ça change.
Impudence aside, Sunday’s wasn’t Anderson’s most slipshod performance in a United shirt. There have been plenty of those. On the day others – notably Ryan Giggs, Antonio Valencia, Tom Cleverley – were just as injurious, but after six years of increasing mediocrity few can remember when Anderson reached his current low.
This season is the player’s career in a microcosm: just seven starts in the Premier League, 15 in all competitions. Sir Alex Ferguson is increasingly loathe to trust the former international, even on the sporadic occasions when the player is fit.
There have been two goals and five assists – three in a single Carling Cup match against Chelsea – and he has taken just seven shots all season. The numbers have rarely stacked up. In 168 appearances in all competitions Anderson has produced just nine goals and 21 assists – eight of those in the Carling Cup.
That Anderson has never started more than 30 games for United in a campaign says much about how little Ferguson can or does reply on the midfielder. That the player has started and finished just 18 matches in those 168 appearances for the club affirms the observation. In keeping with history, Anderson was substituted after 69 minutes of United’s defeat to Chelsea at the weekend.
Now aged 25, it is impossible to argue that Anderson is a better than the player United acquired for €30 million (£20.3 million) in June 2007. He has certainly regressed from the exciting attacking talent that secured the Golden Ball as best player at the 2005 FIFA U-17 World Championship.
And whatever the blame for Anderson’s misadventure – the player’s bankrupt attitude to professionalism, Sir Alex’ tactical misuse, and rank bad luck – failure it most certainly is. In the years of waiting the only wonder left is Sir Alex’ enduring patience.
Indeed, the player will surely be shipped out in the summer should United find a suitable buyer, although the club will have to write off a substantial percentage of the player’s original purchase price. Rumours of a return to Porto may represent the best bet for both player and United.
In fact there is no guarantee that a more suitable buyer will come forward to claim the player at a price that United is willing to accept, although with two years left on the midfielder’s contract the coming summer represents the best return the club will ever achieve.
And the player has little argument to brook when United move him on; not after claiming that the campaign now drawing to a close was a defining moment in his career. It should be.
Anderson’s probable exit represents a significant about face, especially for Sir Alex who has been unswerving in his public support for the former Grêmio player. After all here is a manager with a peerless reputation for developing youth who has, through some significant fault of his own, failed to get the best out of an expensive youthful acquisition.
“We are delighted,” said Ferguson when Anderson signed a new five-year £80,000-per-week contract in summer 2010. “Anderson has developed tremendously since joining us; he is going to be a really top player.”
Similar plaudits have followed each return from injury and every subsequent false start. Ferguson’s support is buttressed each time by any morsel of evidence that Anderson might one-day become the player that United’s management and massed support always wanted.
But there have been just 49 starts since that lucrative new contract was inked. Almost £12 million committed in wages since 2010 at around £250,000 per start. By the time Anderson leaves this summer, United will have paid out around £50 million in transfer fee, bonuses and wages for the player. As Ferguson was once so fond of saying, there really is no value in the market.
Should the player move on it will surely benefit all parties; a return to Portugal or Brazil, where economic growth now enables local clubs to finance players on European wages, will proffer the player game-time in a lower profile environment. And while Anderson will almost certainly never become the player that Golden Ball once promised, the talent remains to forge a career elsewhere.
Moreover, removing Anderson from Ferguson’s roster will create the space and incentive for the Scot to acquire a new central midfielder for the first time since the Brazilian’s capture six years ago.
The strategy comes at a risk of course: Darren Fletcher’s chronic illness, and Paul Scholes’ retirement will leave United two further central midfielders down, while Ryan Giggs will turn 40 shortly into the new season. But United’s goals have moved on too. Returning the Premier League to trophy to Old Trafford this season affords the club a new incentive next year – Europe, where the genuine benchmark of quality surely lies.
Indeed, United’s ability to dismiss domestic mediocrity has masked weaknesses in Ferguson’s first team – a fact recorded in the Reds’ mixed record of 11 points from 24 against other members of the ‘top five’: City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. The team hasn’t beaten a European opponent of genuine note since a 1-0 victory in Valencia, September 2010.
That record is unlikely to change before Ferguson’s strengthens at United’s point of greatest fragility in central midfield. Anderson’s departure is now central to that goal.
It’s not been wasted for the local restaurants!
He’s shit, lazy and a cunt. End of.
No “Look how shit Valencia has become” article yet?
Oh fuck me, you haven’t asked Jay Shon to (ahem) write it have you?
Pikey – To be fair Valencia’s doing a good enough job himself.
Sorry there’s so much bull in this article. I’m not even going to begin to tackle most of them but you’re so ridiculously unfair on a talented player who actually put in by far the best shift of our midfield yesterday. Constantly underrated, he keeps us ticking when he’s on and fitness aside he’s also a useful player to have. He brings drive and impetus to the team that isn’t present in any other player at United.
And obviously if he departs there won’t be much more space for an expensive new creative midfielder, unless he’s happy taking Ando’s place in Capital One Cup matches or on the bench for big games.
You are not fair to the guy and you are not honest and sincere with ur assesment on the guy. He was one of the two or three reds that performed well yesterday, how many times did cleverly, valencia, jones, giggs lost possession yesterday? Each time this guy is substituted from the game, we end up losing that game, he is a combative hardworking lad, he deserves some accolades.
Maloubebe – you’ll note that it’s an assessment over six years. And what do Cleverley, Valencia, Jones and Giggs have to do with that? You’re simply following this sentence:
“Ferguson’s support is buttressed each time by any morsel of evidence that Anderson might one-day become the player that United’s management and massed support always wanted.”
It’s based on hope alone. He’s a player that’s worse than when he joined. Do you seriously dispute that? His best season for the club was six years ago. And that wasn’t all that good.
Good article in my opinion, and totally on the ball. Ship him back to Porto and get Rodriguez as part of the deal.
So he reckons his bad form is down to injury and fitness
This article is about right. He was expected to turn into a Ronaldinho-type player. Perhaps tactics never suited his style – he was usually played in a defensive role. He’s definitely not developed. In some games (esp when played with Cleverley) it has produced an active one-touch midfield group and he is one of our few players who can surge forward with the ball.
I don’t know why you thought the midfield was curious. I think Jones in front of the back 4 with Cleverley and Ando ahead was a good plan. Better than Carrick, Scholes and Giggs in midfield.
Olivef, Maloubebe… what colour kit does YOUR team wear?… I bet it’s, all the colours of the rainbow… innit?
“Badges, to god-damned hell with badges! We have no badges. In fact, we don’t need badges. I don’t have to show you any stinking badges, you god-damned cabrón and ching’ tu madre! Come out from that shit-hole of yours. I have to speak to you.”
waste of space
nowt to see hear
please get rid of the fat twat who has regressed instead of developing
bebe mark II
Awfull fat Con Merchant who just gets worse! NO skill,Guile or Nouse,he is just plain CRAP, how he is still playing at my Beloved UTD is a travesty.Sell him please,I will Pay for the useless lump of Lards Taxi fare to Mcr Airport myself, Good Ridance to Bad Rubbish!
Well, its a nice article but one sided..anderson has been unlucky partly due to injuries but mainly cos of SAF wrong tactics…he did the same with michael carrick converting him to a defensive midfielder..T-pain is an attacking bull. Permit to say on that pitch yesterday, of all the attackminded players, he was the best. He. Shouldn’t have been removed and leave valencia or cleverly on that pitch. Anderson might not have developed into what we had hoped for but once in a while he brrings that genius, that energy in him.if he can play one full season unhindered, I think we might, just might see the brilliance in this brazilian.
Anderson will not do well playing every 20th game. He needs to play more often which means he needs to look elsewhere. Man United is not a young man’s team, we prefer age but that means we’ll win the title but cannot compete in FA or Europe. Give me a slow, intelligent player like Giggs and ship the young players to Serie A.
Careful with pronouns. By “we” in “we prefer” obviously mean yourself and Fergie.
Personally I think he will be the next ronaldinho…
..Oh wait….
Surely Fergie has to cut his losses on Anderson. I’ve been waiting and hoping each season that he’ll come good, and every season it’s the same story of injury, lack of fitness and sporadic performances.
As Ed has consistently stated, it would be negligent not to buy at least one central midfielder this summer. Bayern Munich look to be the benchmark now, and their midfield of Schweinsteiger, Martinez, Kroos and now Gotze, makes ours look really poor by comparison.
Carrick has had a brilliant season, but Cleverley looks increasingly more of a squad player than an influential first choice, Jones is a useful man marker but limited in midfield (his best position is definitely centre back), Giggs gives the ball away too much when playing central, likewise Rooney when playing deeper, Powell is still on the fringes of the squad, Fletcher unfortuately may never return (and if he does will almost certainly never recapture his best form) and Scholes will surely retire this summer.
We desperately need some dynamism and presence in central midfield, yet all the transfer talk is about Bale, Ronaldo and Lewandowski. All great players, but Fergie and the scouting network must surely see what is blatantly obvious and pursue a Javi Martinez type of player, otherwise we’ll really struggle to compete against the best in Europe next season.
Hard to argue with any of that
An absolutely tremendous post, spot-on
Haha I love the people who say that Anderson is a misused attacking genius in spite of his pitiful record of goals and assists. I’m not going to castigate Fergie for buying him, it’s not a Bebe situation. Sometimes you just get it wrong. Ando had great potential and he was probably worth a punt when we bought him, but the club have given him more than a fair chance and it’s only sensible to shift him to make room for someone else.
The title says it all….
Great article completely agree. He might have talent but if he cant show it consistently over 6 years then whats the point…
Good riddance…
Well, he has certainly been inconsistent. That said, his play Sunday made his substitute, Rooney, look like an amateur piker. Rooney was utter sh*te.
Your article is a bias one. Ando’s stangnation was due to Fergie’s tactics and over reliance on gigs and Schole. In Ando’s first season, he was voted the best fifa young player of the year due largely to his perfomance in mid field with owen Hagreaves. Infact in the big matches that year he was ever present and he dominated big players like steve gerard, micho Essein, fabrigass and others. The problem started in the second season when schole came back from his eye problem and Ando found himself on the bench instead of building on last term. He became desilusioned and even tried to engineered a move. Though injury played a part, SAF was mostly responsible. pls recheck your stats. Ando scoreed 2 CL goals against sachale 04 in the semi final.
If Anderson is not going to be used as an attacking midfielder, which was his position before he came to United, than he is no good to the club playing in a defensive role, therefore he must be sold. He was rated as one of the best attacking midfielders in Brazil before he came to United so why the hell did Fergie try to turn him into a defensive player? If anything, Fergie has ruined his career. Its like buying Van Persie as a striker and when he gets to Old Trafford, you decide to play him as a fullback. Total bullshit! Anderson has struggled here because of Fergie’s tactics. If Anderson wants to get his playing career back on track, he needs to leave so he can play in his attacking midfield position and build a name for himself.
Probably the most sensible comment on this thread. We should think about what’s best for his career really. He would do well at another club because he’s a great player, unless Fergie starts playing him in bigger games like he deserves.
Genuinely talented guy, injuries and unfair freezing from the team have held him back.
And on another note, Fergie is saying he is not selling any of his players, so he will need to get Anderson super fit, get him to run on beaches, up and down hills and golf courses like I do with my players and take Valencia with him because he needs to get fit also. These players are not fit, thats why they are having a terrible season. With pre-season coming up, play Anderson in an attacking position and if that don’t workout, sell him. Fergie could solve alot of problems if he used common sense. With Zaha coming in, send Wellbeck out on loan, put Rooney back up front with Van Persie, alternate Anderson and Kagawa as the attacking midfielders and buy a defensive midfielder like Fellaini and either Bale or Ronaldo for the left side. We will need only to buy two players, but Anderson will have to get in the best shape of his life.
I was thinking “rotate Kagawa and Anderson? Who could possibly think that’s a good plan?”
Then I saw who write it.
‘send welbeck on loan’ eh? thats not gona happen.
people who think welbeck should be sold are going to be dissapointed
A lot of players have had thier career stagnated or ruined by SAF. Unfortunately people only talk about the giggs and the scholes. What of the O’shea’s who practically played in every dept including in goal, the Alan Smith’s who he tried to convert to a midfielder, flecher almost has his career ruin being played on the wing until he moved to CMF, Carrick was not a holding midfielder when he came to and it took him a while to adjust. This season alone cleverly, jones, DW have all been played out positions. I don’t care how good u are, if u are played out of position, u might be decent, but u wouldn’t be at ur best.SAF should put round peds in round holes especially the young and upcoming players.
useless this ferguson fella isnt he! what does he know eh? if only he was as good a manager as you dayus….oh wait…you tit
Bollocks… even if Ferguson used him out of position, that’s no excuse for being unfit, unprofessional, and unable to play 90 fuckin minutes.
“And on another note, Fergie is saying he is not selling any of his players, so he will need to get Anderson super fit, get him to run on beaches, up and down hills and golf courses like I do with my players”
Ahhh, that explains a lot… you need to stop the golf course training Herbie… you’ve obvioulsy taken one too many long drives off the head.
Let’s have a quiet bet: how long before we hear the dreaded “satisfied with the squad” and “no value in the market”? We can’t include “nobody leaving” because it’s already out the great man’s mouth.
Should that not be “six years of waist”? 🙂
Paul – nice 🙂
You’ve gotten soft
I remember Anderson first season with United, especially the away game at Liverpool. He made Gerrard his bitch by totally controlling the midfield for us. Anderson moved passed Gerrard with such easy that it was easy to believe that the £20M price tag had already been worth it. For whatever reason(s); injury, lack of fitness, being played out of position, laziness or just too much success too early, Anderson has never fulfilled his potential. The reason doesn’t really matter because the reality is that Anderson is 7+ year on from his “Golden Ball” performance and is a lesser player today that he was when we picked him up.
At any team other than United Anderson would be considered a “coach killer”, he show just enough talent and potential to make you believe he will come good and then spends the next 15 game not even making the bench. It’s time to cut our losses, get what we can for him and move him and move him along.
And yet he was always above Pogba in the pecking order. Strange,eh?
Steggo @ 4:08: “And yet he was always above Pogba in the pecking order.”
Sure, the same Paul Pogba who has been suspended for the remainder of the SerieA season for spitting on an opponent ? It seems that what M.Pogba found most educational in his three years at MUFC was being a gangsta bad boy – like Ravel Morrison. And no one knows what sink-hole Morrison has disappeared into.
I’ve been a fan of Anderson’s drive-from-midfield but it seems that there isn’t much else in his locker. Time to go -will anyone pay his 80k/week wages ?
My point is that Anderson has had chance after chance while others don’t. Yes, Pogba may indeed be,as you put it, a “gangsta bad boy”, but he didn’t have the opportunity to change, whereas Anderson has had at least 5 years to get himself fit, slim and playable. That lack of professionalism is far worse than anything Pogba did. Anderson has wasted his talent, which is a far greater sin (and please don’t give the old “it’s Fergies tactics arguement”-good players adapt and change or they move on).
You make Pogbas ban sound tremendously long, however he got the customary 3 matches for his “gangsta” like behaviour. At least he got near to an opponent, which is more than can be said for Anderson.
It’s a shame about Anderson, if he’d played to his potential he could’ve been exactly what we’ve needed for so long, but there does seem to be an attitude problem with him, he lacks work-rate, he’s not kept himself fit enough (when even a fat fucker like Alan Greene on 5 Live is having digs about Anderson’s weight you know it’s bad), and there is no excuse for not being fluent in English after 6 years here!
I can not believe how a man clearly overweight can divide so many fans saf tactics haven’t force him to eat too much
It’s a shame because he looked great at the beginning but he has never been fit and playing on a regular basis. His professionalism is questionable regarding his fitness, lifestyle and alleged lack of English. It’s time to move him on and sign a TOP quality centre midfield player
Comfort eating to cope with the pressure?
This is obviously an accurate assessment… but many have been saying the exact same thing for the past 3/4/5 years… Ferguson just doesn’t see it this way… fuck knows what he does see, but even if Scholes calls time, I’ll bet Ferguson starts the next season with the same midfield options he’s got now.
Thanks!
We’ve got breaking news! Fergie is going to announce his retirement this week. The story is running all around the world. Check it out! Also, Rooney is moving on to Bayern Munich. He’s informed the club already.
so when do you start?
What!? You’re kidding!
Oh wait, you clearly failed to look at the thread that was started OVER 5 FUCKING HOURS BEFORE YOUR POST YOU INBRED FUCKSTICK!
In other news man lands on moon!

LOL. .. ffs
People all around the world are now on BBC paying tribute to SAF. It is the leading story on the news cast. Sports writers, everybody are on giving their opinions on who should replace him. The club officially made the announcement yesterday and coming out of Manchester, David Moyes is the favourite. Go and buy a newspaper, its front page news!

Genius.
He’s taking the piss, and has been all this time – he’s a fucking WUM genius, and we would do well to learn from him.
Or he’s the world’s greatest spastic and a danger to society
can’t be done with his shit today, I want to slap him
Sorry guys but you are going to have to kiss my ass when you find out that what Iam telling you is the truth. Fergie has retired. Iam here listening to all the tributes from around the world and you guys are here talking shit. Go and check what I’m saying for yourselves.

I wish I was talking crazy but later on you will find out that what I say is FACTS!
Herbet – SAF is a personal hero of mine, I won’t have you spreading shit on this forum. Why do you lie all the time? You really are crazy.
ive heard nothng about this
where are you getting this information from
this isnt going to effect the garay deal is it
Fuck me… Herbie you turnip, give your head a shake.
Maybe Herbie exists in some sort of bubble where he can only see one thread on this forum.
Either that or he’s Rafa in disguise:
First class wum is herbie
Is this news true????
steggo @ 2:44: “Is this news true????”
It’s not April 1st AND there has been an official release from MUFC so the odds are strong that it’s a done deal.
A “done deal” is probably also in the works for his successor – Moyes seems to be the odds-on choice (worst luck !) but Jo$e is, no doubt, in the mix as will HerrKlopp who has done a fantastic job at Dortmund in reviving a dormant powerhouse while playing wonderful footie with kids and surviving persistent selling-on from the ownership. He might be considered a dark-horse candidate as will Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer and – wait for it ! – Jupp Heynkes who was turfed by Bayern’s deep thinkers after he rebuilt the team into the best in Deutschland and Europa (what a midfield and that kid Alaba ain’t too shabby !).
Feel it will be Moyes, he can work to a budget which will appeal to Malcolm, Avram et al. But it would be brilliant if we were to hijack Mourinho’s return to Chelsea.
I’m not a huge fan of Mourinho, but how I’d love to see John Terrys face the moment he heard Jose chose United.
Iam sure by now you all know that what I’ve been telling you is FACT! I’ve been listening to tributes on BBC from United fans all over the world. If you go to the official Manchester United website, its all there. I knew about this yesterday and most United fans are shocked! But my choice is the Dortmund manager but I’ve got inside information that Moyes is the first choice. Also Rooney had told his team mates that he is going to Bayern Munich but that could change now with a new manager coming in.
And yes, Mourinho has heard the news and he wants the job!
That was also on the news. This is going to be interesting.
Moyes will surely bring Fellaini and he will solve our midfield problems.
OK, now I’m starting to think that you really are a WUM after all.
Some news is now saying David Moyes has been appointed and Martinez, the Wigan manager will be going to Everton.
Bman, you need to except the fact that Fergie is gone. There are alot of fans that are pretty upset right now, but this is good news. We will win the title again with a new manager.
Fergie did the right thing, we need to bring our style of play up to par. Our football has been terrible for the last few years and Fergie seem to just run out of ideas. Iam telling all you guys, go by a newspaper, go on the internet to all the sports websites, go to the official Manchester United website or turn on your radio and tune in to BBC and listen to all the interviews, tributes, opinions from United fans around the world. I don’t know why you all are getting angry with me. You all have computers? Go and read about it!
Wow… awesome Herbie… cheers Mate, it’s great that we’ve finally got someone here that knows what the fuck is going on… the Hermits on this forum are so fuckin out of touch, they don’t know…
Keep up the good work Mate… and keep the info coming, yeah?
It just never stops… GO ON HERBIE… YOU FUCKIN TELL ‘EM MATE!!!!!
I don’t need to tell them anymore. They must be just stupid if they don’t know anything by now. My ten year old daughter was the first person that told me yesterday. It was announced on the TV news and she came running to me. I took the day off from work to catch up with all the news because at first I did not believe it either until it was the biggest story ahd the first story up on the news. Now the news is saying that David Moyes will be the new managerI just hope he brings Fellaini with him. I wonder how much money he will be given to buy players? Right now I’m watching Chelsea v Tottenham, still in the first half and its 1-1.
Meanwhile Herb is loving all the replies. Well played. WUM of the decade.
Meanwhile Herb is loving all the replies. Well played. WUM of the decade..
I really think Herbie might be a bit retarded. I know that’s not very PC but I’m not clinically trained so not sure if it’s autism, schizophrenia or maybe he’s just inbred…
Herb is is a world class wum
I’m coming around to thinking he might just be a genius
Idiot savante – like Rain Man
I hear he’s an excellent driver.
It seems mean to take the piss, but it’s hard to resist.
If he’s a WUM he deserves some kind of literary award at this point.
By the time you realize whats happening, David Moyes will already be the new manger. I cannot believe that you all have not heard the news and this has been worldwide news. Are you all incarcerated or something? By tomorrow, you all will know because people other than me will be telling you the same thing.
Stop it now herbie..the jokes not funny anymore
Its not a joke! Allistar Campbell is now on BBC paying tribute to Fergie. Call your friends, I’m sure they can update you. Its no need for me to paste anything because this is worldwide news. I’m glad he did retire, now we can see some quality football being played. This had to be planned sometime ago because Moyes had an offer to manage in Germany and Mourinho was already going to Chelsea. How much money will Moyes get to buy players? BBC is now saying that David Moyes will be announced tomorrow as the new manager.
So tomorrow we will have a new manager and you guys are still stuck on stupid.
We don’t get the bbc in England…
This has been better craic than if an actual article had been hastily thrown together and started Davey-hyphen-the-clean-fck out of everything talk about David’s potential renaicassance effect on the-Wayne-boy,
It’s a pity everyone on here has too wicked a sense of humour to explain irony and sarcasm to the plebs,
Herbie, what’s Phelans next move, replace RM at Wigan and complete the merry go round?

http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2013/May/sir-alex-ferguson-to-retire-as-manchester-united-manager.aspx
That’s the worst website mock up I have ever seen.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/may/08/sir-alex-ferguson-retires-live
I’m seriously considering reporting him to the fraud squad.
He had better not bring Fellaini, he’s a dirty player who puts in zero effort except when headbutting or elbowing people out the way.
Also, he’s ineffectual as a midfielder, he only works as a withdrawn striker – and we’ve already got enough of them.
I’d rather he brought Gibson with him. And that’s saying something.
Fellaini’s actually a very skillful player who can play anywhere in central midfield. He’s better than all of our midfielders except Carrick.
It will be interesting to see what players we will go after now, if any! I’m sure SAF has already been in talks with Moyes and the same players they are looking to bring in will be brought in. Everton got any quality players that would be good for United? Moyes likes to build from the academy team, similar to SAF but how much quality is there in the academy?
We need to spend some serious money on that midfield. It will be interesting also to see now if Rooney still intends to leave.
The sports news is saying Rooney still wants to leave because he and Moyes were bad blood when he was at Everton.
They go on to say the owner of Chelsea has been in contact with Rooney and plans to outbid Bayern Munich and offer Rooney higher wages to join Chelsea. Mourinho has tried to sign Rooney in the past but Rooney is saying he wants to go to Bayern. Moyes may just be able to change his mind.
Anderson actually playing good in Manchester United..
give him one more season to show his skill…
What are you on about? Moyes coming to OT!? Rooney leaving!?
Stop taking the piss Herbie!
Don’t you fucking start…
Now I KNOW you’re talking shite. Rooney would never hand in a transfer request. He’s totally loyal and completely professional. You’re just making things up Herbie. Stop it – it’s neither big nor clever you know.
I don’t think this article has been entirely fair to Anderon over the 6 years. He was a prospect for the future and wasn’t half as bad as he is now. He obviously is a buffer in the dressing room and It’s surprising this article makes no mention of his usefulness in Europe in 2007/2008 and 2008/2009
Not much of a defence if the best you can point to are his performances four years ago…
