Sir Alex Ferguson has challenged his Manchester United players to bounce back from defeat at Anfield. United, deflated after losing 2-0 on Sunday afternoon, lost twice to hated rivals Liverpool last season only to win the Premier League title and leave the Merseysiders trophyless. Now Ferguson has called for his squad to repeat the feat in May.
“Part of the challenge is to get over disappointments,” said Ferguson.
“Last season we lost at home 4-1 to Liverpool, which was a travesty but we went on to win the league.”
Goals from Fernando Torres and David Ngog were enough to beat United at Anfield in a match spoilt by controversy after referee Andre Marriner failed to send-off Jamie Carragher for a professional found, or award a penalty after the same player brought down Michael Carrick inside the area.
