MUST has accused the Glazer family of panicking on the day that chief executive David Gill dismissed the green and gold protests, while the club released its Q3 financial results. MUST, which is 160,000 strong, claims that the supporters can turf the Glazer family out of Old Trafford, despite the Red Knights’ bid now effectively dead.
“Not For Sale – that has a familiar ring to it. Of course the last time Manchester United was ‘Not For Sale’ was back in 2005 and what happened next – the Glazer family bought it,” MUST chief executive office Drasdo told Goal.com today.
“It is clear from the reactions on the Manchester United message boards that supporters are not buying into the spin coming out through the Glazers’ PR machine.”
“The Glazers are clearly panicking over the powerful Green and Gold campaign, the growing opposition amongst supporters and the threat of a mass non-renewal of season tickets from supporters.”
Drasdo went further claiming – despite the Red Knights’ inability to mount a bid so far this summer – that the Glazer family is running scared of supporter power. The Glazer family’s United States-based property business is also under financial pressure, according to MUST.
“They know that supporters have the power to remove them and they clearly fear that the anger amongst supporters at the millions they’ve taken out of our club has driven many beyond breaking point,” added Drasdo.
“We know their US businesses are in major financial difficulty and there is huge unrest at their American Football franchise too with fans up in arms refusing to renew season tickets due to lack of investment by the Glazers. Sounds familiar?
“If the club really isn’t for sale why would they need to say anything at all? Why are they so concerned about telling everyone they don’t want to sell? If they don’t want to sell they can simply reject any offer. It sounds like the gentleman doth protest too much.”
Sorry. But MUST should be the one panicking.
we want galzer out. love united hate galzer. we shall not renew until the galzers sell of leave
sorry glazers( and gill) but action speaks much louder then words say what ya like we aint BUYING INTO IT, DO NOT RENEW ITS THE WAY WE TO RID OF THE SCUMBAGS, STARVE THE GLAZERS AND GILL FOR THAT MATTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not claiming to be the sharpest tool in the box . I support MUST because UTD is the Glazer cash cow ! they bought the club through uncertain means , Have paid them selves handsomley and Used our name to bank roll other corporate projects . yet we are still in debt !!I wish Green & Yellow would disappear also but it wont as long as the debt issue is about . In fact it will grow stronger as word spreads. I didnt feel the red knights was feasable ! Whats that they say an Elephant is a mouse designed by a commitee !!
Drasdo is pathetic, isn’t he. The Glazers panicking because of the G&G campaign (which is nothing to do with him by the way, except him and MUST cashing in on it). It’s all a bit sad now that we don’t have a functional supporters organisation.
Yeah I wrote about this earlier – it’s a real shame that the organisations are so split with separate agendas. They need to be consolidated and have get some seriously professional management in place.
yeah, i signed up with MUST too, through gritted teeth i might add!
SUNSEEKERS
Yeah can’t you just see Malcolm Glazer crapping himself over MUST and the G & G, i bet he laughs all the way to the bank.
The cold reality here is, the Glazers are not going anywhere and all this talk about their businesses failing in the US, shouldn’t someone wake up and realise, many businesses are failing all over the world, HELLLLOOOOO it’s called a recession, the only reason United haven’t felt that recession is really down to its success in recent years.
Its about time MUST and the Red Knights STFU and realise only one very important detail, you failed, simple as that!! Sad but true.
The Glazers will go but only when they are ready and not before.
MUST you should start listening to the fans, they are sick of all these false promises and sick of maybe’s.
Green and Gold really is a thing of old.
I think this is a load of crap. Firstly I’m a united fan and all this glazer removal talk is nonsense. You can bang on all about debt and stuff like that. At the end of the day, numbers do not lie. Go and see the financial report. There is no financial difficulty. We are a well run club who earn more than what we spend. If that was the opposite, then we would have a problem. So, stop trying to jump on every media bandwagon and trying to ruin your own club. At the end of the day, the only way the Glazers will leave is only when they are truly irritated about not being able to do their jobs.
I did read the financials. £40m wasted on a debt swap, £30m on interest, £19m on forex hedging, £7m on other debt related costs – all in the last quarter!!! Get real, but if you don’t believe me read this:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/may/28/manchester-united-sell-players-debts
Just shows how much United generate that they can absorb all of that without flinching and still produce the best team in the world over the last 5 seasons.
The club is in no danger whatsoever. I want the Glazers out as much as the next man but scaremongering is stupid and counter-productive. Every time you say ‘we’re going bust’ and the club goes and wins trophies and goes from strength to strength, you lose a bit more credibility. The finances are fine. We should be worrying about how to replace SAF when he retires.
Oh, by the way, the Guardian newspaper HATES United. Every negative spin possible is put on United stories.
Not sure I’d agree with that myself but each to his own…
