England international Ashley Young completed the formalities on a £15 million transfer last week, adding to Sir Alex Ferguson’s options in attack. The transfer caps a memorable year for 25-year-old former Watford player, who has broken into Fabio Capello’s England team after missing out on selection for the 2010 World Cup squad. However, despite the player’s progress with Aston Villa over the past 12 months not all Manchester United supporters are happy with the acquisition, questioning Young’s quality.
Moreover, with Nani and Antonio Valencia both preferring United’s right flank, Young will likely be used on the left – a position that Capello does not believe brings out the best in the new recruit. So, will the £15 million man be a success at Old Trafford or do the critics have it right?

he won’t be a success or a failure, he’ll be a success in a valencia sense, and therefore a failure
How long is a piece of string?
Or better still… is it farther, than by bus?
he will be ace….his game will improve loads and he will be an important part of the puzzle
lets put it this way…he’s gonna be of more use than Berbatov
Better than basically winning us the title on his own, you mean? Fuck me, can’t wait for the new season in that case!
you are pissed…
Wasted money.
This
Valencia is a pain in the arse in that the better player, Nani, is played on the left where he’s only at 60%
It will be the same with Young in some games. Rooney will be played as a lone striker so that Young can play in the hole, which is shit
And if he plays out wide on the flank, Nani will end up leaving, which is also shit
Either way it’s a tragedy
But obviously he’ll play some good stuff, score a few goals and provide a few assists
he’ll be a starter for us, along with valencia. nani will leave in january.
we’ll bank on the twins to provide us with some attacking flair after rooney fucks his metatarsals again, but they’ll both get injured after 4 games each.
we’ll grind out a few fluke wins, finish 3rd and buy a 16 yr old italian to replace giggs next season.
A few assists, he has more then any premier league player bar Fabregas in the last 5 years. Nani at times is a luxury and not a particularly brilliant one. He can’t seem to be trusted for big games by the manager and that can’t go on.
Proven in the league and a better deliverer of balls at set pieces then anything we have.
Not the player to overthrow Barca in one foul swoop but will be a good addition.
who cares about assits, I want xfactory type stuff, he’s only produced one such moment in his life, the last minute winner at everton when oneill and andy gray called him a genius and as good as messi and ronaldo
Spot on.
The bottom line gentlemen is that Ashley Young is now a Man Utd player and we will have to support him and HOPE he can deliver the goods. If we are looking to raise our game to another level, then 20 million for Douglas Costa is a hell of a better buy then spending 20 million for Ashley Young.
The key factor to our game is Anderson. If Anderson can step up his game and show his true potential, we can be a force this season. If he was one of the best attacking midfielders coming out of Brazil, then SAF needs to play him in that position. And if he still looks an average player after that, then put him up for sale in the January transfer window. We need to get rid off ALL this dead weight.
ffs herbie….are you Calvino’s brother?? you go on about Costa like he does Downing
