Each year Rant predicts the season ahead. Manchester United’s performance, the winners, the losers and the individual stars. There have been mixed results over the years – check out 2009/10, 2010/11, 2011/12 and last season.
As ever the predictions are made ‘as is’ – just ahead of the new Premier League season and two full weeks before the transfer window closes. Last season Rant predicted just four correct answers – and that United would finish second – but then Robin van Persie signed and everything changed. This year Rant makes the predictions on the basis that Wayne Rooney remains and no further signings are made.
Add your predictions in the comments section below and we’ll revisit this post at the end of May 2013 to find out how we all did. No cash prizes – just glory to the winners, and likely humiliation for Rant.

Silly boy – betting against UTD !
One wrongly-allowed off=sides goal and goal difference from a seven-peat !
Some people never learn.
Think Sunderland will surprise a few this year. Can see them mid table comfortably.
Also…. Have a sneaky feeling for Valencia to regain the Player of the Year title.

Hi Ed,
I believe that United will not win the league title simply because of the fact that they haven’t strengthened their squad unlike their rivals like City and Chelsea.
If any United supporters take the line that “We don’t need to strengthen because we’re the reigning champions”, they only have to look at the likes of champions like Juventus, Barcelona and Bayern and see how they’ve not stood still this summer.
I’m expecting Chelsea to win the league this season, United to finish 3rd or even 4th.
As far as Champions League is concerned, I think Real Madrid have more than a decent chance of winning La Decima this season.
Regards,
Ashish
Keep the fucking faith!

I’m going back to bed.
That made me laugh. It’s outrageous, innit?
