Good Times
The entertainment couldn’t last. United completed two bore-draws inside a week. Plus ça change. First, against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League, with the Reds’ scoreless draw leaving United’s ongoing participation in the competition hanging in the balance. Then, at the weekend, where Louis van Gaal’s team drew at Leiester City in another thoroughly uninspiring performance. So boring has the Dutchman’s team become that Ed & Paul are bored talking about the boredom. It’s that boring. But for the good of the listeners they plough on, reviewing two uneventful games, discussing Van Gaal’s future, and pondering a potential summer move for Pep Guardiola. Also on the show this week: your questions answered and a look ahead to United’s weekend draw against West Ham at Old Trafford.

Paul was spot on with his comments about van Gaal’s post match remarks about Paddy McNair.
Van Gaal’s decision to single out McNair for criticism because the lad, a defender, had the temerity to spontaneously try a piece of attacking play, is absolutely shameful. United were struggling and the kid used his initiative and gets publicly bollocked for it. Defenders attacking! Good grief, whatever next? Clearly the lad hadn’t done his homework properly and had not memorised the script (probably been spending too much much time watching videos of the exploits of his Manchester United countrymen such as Georgie Boy, Stormin’ Norman and Sammy Mac).
No wonder opposition teams find United’s play predictable.
In addition to dishing out an unjust criticism of a developing young player, the manager’s approach is the absolute antithesis of the highly respected ‘Total Football’ created in the 1970’s which put The Netherlands on the World footballing map and heightened the global reputation of Dutch coaches. Interchangeability of positions around the pitch was a key element of this style. No wonder the legendary Dutch master, Johan Cruyff, has little time for van Gaal’s approach.
Van Gaal is an arrogant controller, a poor man-manager with stupidly negative ideas and the sooner he retires to the Algarve the better off United will be.
(Even though United are are bit short of options up front, I am actually glad that James Wilson is out on loan at Brighton, where Big Brother’s influence will be limited, and hopefully the lad won’t have the confidence, flair and spontaneity squeezed out of him.).
It’s unfortunate for LVG to criticize Paddy.Cud this be a why he sold Rafael da Silva coz of his overlapping tendency?LVG you are boring, you better change your ‘philosophy’ or leave in peace.
@UtdRantcast @Teejsound Must be a nostalgic look back!!
Giggs and/or Gary Neville??? I would love to see Gary as at least our Ass’t Mgr…. let’s see how he fares at Valencia.
The fact we’re facing Rooney or Fellani up front choice speaks volumes about LVG’s management and where this club really is. Just think about it.
