So, Szczesny is beginning to look like a top quality keeper….very unfortunate timing for such a comment!!
Think you’re underestimating Ireland a bit, or perhaps overrating their opponents in Group C.
Italy are a poor side. Ireland should have beaten them in Italy during the WC2010 qualification campaign, but came away with a draw, which is still a decent result, and drew with Italy at home. Ireland are very capable of beating the Italians, as they proved with a much better Italian side in ’94. Plus Ireland have an edge going into this in the shape of Trapp. He’s a very respected figure in Italy, and he’ll know how to beat this Italian team.
Croatia are not a very good side. Modric is quality, but there’s not much else there to worry about. This will probably be 0-0, but Ireland could feasibly sneak a win here.
Spain….well not much hope here, but lets just hope Spain beat everyone in the group as well!! COYBIG!!
Stevie D – you were saying?!
Haha, I’m printing out my post and will be eating my words this moment! I stand well and truly corrected. I clearly had my green tinted glasses on.
Ireland’s were outplayed in a warm up against Hungary last Monday. This has been coming for a long time, a team who in qualifying received an incredible run of fortune with results such as Armenia slaughtering Slovakia away and getting a 0-0 in Moscow were a 6-0 hammering would not have been an unfair reflection. Ironically they will give Italy a good game I feel, could be playing with nothing to play for and the Italians will not be as dominant as either the Croats or Spanish.
Enjoyed the tournament so far apart from Germany – Portugal the other games have all been quite good and think England are in trouble tomorrow with France my idea of an outsider to win the tournament.

Right… now the authorities have got a real problem.
Because of the weak stance they’ve taken, and the press coverage of the situation… the slugs are going to be crawling out from under every rock, and abusing black players.
It’s like advertising for the racists… and they’ll all be relishing their chance to make some poor black sods game a nightmare… and there’s fuck all UEFA can really do about it now, because they’ve set no example… how could they punish another team, after turning a blind eye elsewhere?
Great advert for the game this… going out around the world, that racism is tolerated in football…
Well at least we shouldn’t see it tonight.
More mither.
