Will He Stay, or Will He Go?
This week, 60 minutes of the finest comment and insight on the week’s United news. Or something like that anyway. Ed and Paul discuss United’s Premier League win over West Brom at Old Trafford – a victory that took the Reds top. We talk Europe and United’s exit from the Europa League at the hands of Athletic Bilbao, following a 2-1 defeat in Spain on Thursday evening. The defeat concludes a miserable European season for United, with Ferguson’s men barely putting in a performance of note all year. We follow up on last week’s conversation about Paul Pogba, with the Frenchman now weighing up United’s counter offer to the proposed transfer to Juventus in the coming summer. And while we’re on players leaving, we talk about Dimitar Berbatov after Ferguson said that the Bulgarian forward may move on in the coming summer. We discuss Anderson, whose latest injury could keep the big-boned Brazilian out for the rest of the current seasons. And ahead of Friday’s FA Youth Cup semi-final tie with Chelsea, we talk about United’s Academy side. Finally, there’s a preview of the weekend’s trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Paul Pogba transfer saga proves that journalists are just useless twats. CONFIRMED he was leaving by every newspaper, then he plays against West Brom and suddenly all the papers say he is staying.
The truth of course, all along, is that he still hasn’t decided.
And gutted about Berba.
“I have to remind myself that some birds aren’t meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright and when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up does rejoice, but still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they’re gone.”
I can only assume that given what Fergie has said, he won’t be bringing in another striker. Though the idea of keeping Owen and selling Berba fills me with disgust. I’m sick of his fucking tweets and constant injury. Oh and how the fuck did he warrant a place in the CL final ahead of Berba? Can’t believe the manager deprived Berbatov of that. It’s pretty obvious that he hoped Berba would leave last season, and despite his professionalism and goal scoring he has refused to bring him into the first team.
If he sells Berba but doesn’t bring a midfielder in this summer my faith in Ferguson will reach breaking point.
DeadRevel – well it’s a little more subtle than that. It appeared in multiple Italian papers first, all planted by Pogba’s agent. All the English papers picked it up from that. Ditto today’s story about Juve “not giving up” on Pogba. That was in Tuttosport three days ago.
I understand that – but if it’s so obvious that it was a planted story rather than a confirmation from either camp, then why continue to jump from one extreme to another? I’m not entirely sure who this benefits… United and Ferguson would have known nothing was concrete, so it’s not like SAF is going to pick up a copy of Tuttosport / Daily Mail and think “oh shit, I better tie him down to a contract”.
And are the days of papers taking pride in getting stories right long gone? BBC are usually trustworthy but even they seemed to suggest that Pogba was definitely gone.
Ineptitude or cynical marketing?
Perhaps a bit of both I suppose.
Oh no you are predicting a victory on Sunday…I’m worried now…
Where do I donate to stop Paul singing on future podcasts?
I’m getting to the point where I no longer give a shit.
With you on the Tom Cleverley branding issue. There’s nothing intrinsically wrong with it, but it doesn’t seem right that a player still breaking into the first team has a brand consultant. Beckham has a lot to answer for
Yeah apparently Becks was Clev’s hero growing up… not surprising.
Paul I like your singing.
Love the podcast. However, Paul please do us a favour and NEVER EVER sing again.
This is something I cannot promise.
Seconded!
Where can I donate to KEEP Paul singing? They’re some of the best parts of the pod haha!
More singing! and keep the financial analysis coming. If you don’t like it you can eff off and support the chelsea blog.
