Rio’s Hurt
Ed & Paul look back at United’s comfortable victory over Aston Villa at Old Trafford and the controversy surrounding another Ashley Young dive. We talk youth – a victory for the stiffs in the Premier Reserve League North, but FA Youth Cup defeat for the Academy at Chelsea. But if defeat was a blow to Paul McGuiness’ youngsters, then there was a bonus this week with news that reserve player Davide Petrucci is set to sign a new contract. We ponder Wayne Rooney’s form, Rio Ferdinand’s music taste and discuss, at length, the Premier League 20 Year Awards. Our team, oddly enough, is dominated by United players! Also this week – our Champions League round-up, all the transfer gossip, your questions and we preview this weekend’s game against Everton in the Premier League.

Last week you said Petrucci was leaving.
Not that it matters, because I didn’t believe you.
Yep, it’s a surprise turnaround. The club has had plenty of time to sort this out rather than 6 weeks before his contract expires.
Love the Rant Cast as usual. Denis Irwin should be ahead of Ashley Cole as left back every day of the week. But never mind the best team of the past 20 Premier League years….what about the worst team? Surely this is much more fun to discuss. Here’s my shout:
GK Massimo Taibi
RB Winston Bogarde
LB Andy Meyers
CB William Prunier
CB Frank Sinclair
CM Eric Djemba-Djemba
CM Alberto Aquilani
RM Bebe
LM Thomas Brolin
CF Ali Dia (George Weah’s cousin!)
CF Sean Dundee
Subs: Titus Bramble, Gary Doherty, Ade Akinbiyi, Jason Lee, Emile Heskey.
Manager: Graeme Souness…..just pips Gary Megson due to his incredibly bad signings, ala Ali Dia!!
Stevie – Good shout we’ll have a go at this on next week’s pod!
Aquilani isn’t a bad player… or do you mean specifically Premier League flops?
Well I just meant rubbish….but I suppose they would not be mutually exclusive lists. Perhaps Aquilani was ok in Serie A, but he was awful at Liverpool which is why he’s on my list, but feel free to disagree!
I’m sure there have been worse central midfielders in the history of the Premier League that have just slipped my mind……
Was he? I didn’t think he even played for them… I’ll take your word for it. I suppose in that shite Liverpool side Aquilani didn’t stand out too much.
He’s not playing at Everton because he’s hurt his knee, so everyone don’t panic or speculate as he said on facebook, so he would have definitely be playing this week.
Just heard Fergie talk up Anderson again… I get the feeling he’s going to be at United next season.
I don’t really care as long as we bring in another midfielder.
De Marcos has been touted… but as is usual in these cases, it’s probably just because he had a good game against us and plays for flavour-of-the-month Bilbao.
DeadRevel – he talked up Owen too. *cold shiver runs down spine*
Yeah but hopefully that was just to motivate him for the last 4 games if needed.
I’m predicting Owen leaving and Anderson staying until at least next January, if only to get him in the shop window and raise his pitiful transfer value.
