Neville 1 – 0 United
On the pod – United’s victory over Swansea City at Old Trafford, but was the 2-0 win too little, too late, with City securing a win over Newcastle? We talk United’s new gingham kit, Gary Neville’s planning victory over the club, the reserves in play-off action and Chicharito’s non-appearance in this summer’s Olympics. Also on this week’s pod: Transfers – what strategy will United follow in the market this summer to rebuild a squad on a limited budget? Bébé – Portuguese police now want to question United over one of the murkiest transfers in the club’s history. And, finally, we take your many questions!

Good stuff as always. I really don’t know what to make of the last day of the season. I’m really trying not to let myself start hoping, but the tension of it all is getting to me. All I can say is if QPR roll over and let City steamroll them, I hope it costs them their place in the league. Given their precarious position, they really have got no excuse not to show a bit of fight.
On the subject of QPR, a curious thought did occur to me the other day. The last time they experienced a Premier League last-day (in 1996), they got relegated, but Manchester City actually went down with them. Also, ironically, so did Bolton, who are fighting QPR to avoid that last relegation place this time round.
United Rant’s original returning eternal optimist!
Thanks Spud – you were so nearly right too.
