Panic on the Streets of Salford
It’s a packed show this week, with Ed & Paul looking back on four United games: Tottenham, Everton, Newcastle and Shaktar Donetsk. It was a period in which United dropped seven points in the Premier League as the title surely slipped away. However, victory in Europe ensured qualification from the group in top spot and an easier tie in the Round of 16. We discuss where it has gone wrong and right for new manager David Moyes, and speculate on the path ahead for the Reds. Also on this week’s show: we take your questions in a busy week of United activity on and off the pitch, discuss Shinji Kagawa’s eating habits, Marouanne Fellaini’s texting habits, Rio Ferdinand’s Nativity role and Fergie versus Keane! Finally, we look ahead to two games this week with United facing Aston Villa in Birmingham at the weekend and then Stoke in the Capital One Cup.

Well, even if you guys think that SAF betrayed Keane, I think that was still in the best interest of the club and not just Alex Ferguson because clearly SAF’s interests were more aligned with United than Roy Keane’s at the time. On one side you have a manager who brought success with or without Roy Keane ( though he was an integral part of his success during a certain period), and the other you have a player towards the end of his career. I don’t think there was a non-conflict way of telling Roy Keane that he is done, and given what happened with the younger players and him talking about wages it was a fair assessment to make by SAF that Keane was harm than good. I think I respect SAF even more after this cause he knew he would get stick from the multiple stakeholders and still took the decision regardless of knowing he would be losing a great relationship (that he and keane had) . It’s what made him ‘ruthless’ and only adds to the godfather aura that brought the success, and personally I think Keane as a pundit and former-manager should be able to get past this one and see the managerial aspect of it rather than slagging of SAF at every opportunity.
“However, I do like Christmas” lol
Completely agree with you analysis of the two home defeats. The midfield was completely overrun and that’s not a good sign. However, looking at it positively we know from the summer that Moyes knows the midfield is a problem area (something Fergie didn’t seem to realise in his last 6 years at the club) Granted the summer transfer activity was a complete mess but at least the club was chasing midfielder’s. If we can actually act like we know what we are doing in the transfer market then the indications from the summer are that there will be at least a couple of players coming in to try and sort out our midfield problems.
Don’t give me hope please. Carrick, Cleverley and Jones are killing me. And now? Fletcher! WTF.
