#Pray4RedIssue
Back after a short break, the pod is (sort of) united in grief for the demise of Red Issue, Manchester United’s longest running and most controversial fanzine. Sharp, incisive and never short of cutting, Red Issue has been a staple of the match-day experience for more than 25 years. Love them or loathe them, please join the pod in a minute’s silence and #prayforredissue. Also this week’s, Ed & Paul cover all the news that’s not fit to print, including United’s defeat at home to Southampton and the victory over QPR in London. After a game and half of under-performance in the now highly dubious 3-5-2 system is it time for Louis van Gaal to rethink his tactical outlook? Finally, there’s a look ahead to Friday’s game against Cambridge United in the FA Cup, where – unfortunately – Ed gets the opposition manager’s name wrong. Now that’s Alanysis for you! Red Issue branded selfie-sticks available at all good retailers.

best rantcast yet! I especially liked Paul defending us foreigners.
Hear hear, Paul!
From a listener in Sydney
Yes! Thank you Paul! Every foreigner understands that there is a different emotional connection for local supporters who have the opportunity to go every weekend. But the love for the club is no less for us who have to watch most of the games on TV. It might be even worse for us foreigners. We are like in love with a supermodel whom we think and dream of every day, but rarely get the chance to be with. We look at the stadium pictures every weekend with envy.
Like we did that year with Moyes. A year that saw that beautiful woman deteriorate to a run-down, old and lazy mom. But we still loved her, as you do with a spouse who’s gained a few, looking at old picture, and wondering if it ever will be the same again. You start to look at younger girls, oooh so beautiful they are, but you know they got no soul, you know you never will love them like you do with her, with United. So you start imagine thing. How about new boobs, or a facelift, or? Would that make it good again?
And then came LvG. And the dream came true! Or almost. We couldn’t afford all of the surgeries at once, so now we have a girl with a beautiful smile, but with one breast filled and the other flat. She looks a bit odd, and gets mean comments from scousers on TV, but we know, we know, that soon she will be that beautiful woman again.
However, if she, against all odds, doesn’t return to former glory, we will still love her. We will still dream of her. We will still watch that stadium with envy, every weekend and looking forward to use half our monthly wage to come and see United lose 0-1 to Sunderland.
Thanks to everyone who’s clicked like on this <3
With the exception of Paul’s political ideological leanings (please keep to yourself) excellent as ever.
It’s a disgrace that Paul applies his ” political idealogical leanings” not just to real life, but to football as well. How dare he? Football is sacred and should not be tarnished by any reference to current social values, morals or ideals of equity, fairness and non-discrimination. Don’t just take my word for it, just follow the lead of FIFA boss, Herr Sepp Blatter.
Football is a mirror that reflects the society that we live in and what Rantcast does, brilliantly,in my humble opinion, is comment on that reflection. Manchester United plc are pretty much synonymous with everything that is ugly in this world but that does not stop me looking at the papers everyday, in the hope that we might have spunked £50M on yet another underperforming attacker. Rantcast understands this flaw. Keep up the good fight.
Could you stop having weeks off. I’m a consumer and must have everything i want ALL THE TIME.
Thank you – that’s really kind!
