Derby Day Joy!
As Neil Kinnock once said OH YES, OH YES, OH YES! Victory over City in the derby – and what a fine victory it was! Four defeats in a row to the Blues had become too painful, but with Louis van Gaal’s side in outstanding form United smashed the visitors on Sunday. Ed & Paul discuss United’s latest victory and what it means for the future. Has Manuel Pellegrini been sacked yet? There’s discussion of the remarkable change in United’s fortunes and performances this season, your questions answered and a look forward to next weekend’s huge game against Chelsea.

Cannot wait to listen to this!
Agree with most. however Blind is a very good player that could actually do well in the holding role. Keep in mind that Blind has not played in that role in this 4-3-3 formation and in particular in this period of United’s evolution on LVG.
I pretty much agree, but Ed normally ends up being right when I disagree with him.

Great song to end the podcast this week, hopefully you will be able to play it again after the Chelsea match.
Lovely
Once again , an excellent podcast. Think you are been hard on Rooney. Have a listen to Neville’s analysis on Monday night football.

Might change your opinion on Rooney.
Probably not.
just1n – you’re only the 15th person* to send me this today. Nobody have any opinions of their own anymore? Everybody so insecure in their own beliefs that they need validation by Gary Neville? Neville’s right on some points, but not all. Rooney didn’t play any different on Sunday than he has in the past 5 games – rarely involved and not nearly as tactically disciplined as Neville’s making out.
Let’s also start being a clear about what Neville actually said. He said Rooney was “ineffectively effective” and that Van Gaal would be “pleased”, not that it was a brilliant performance.

Damn and here I thought I was the first. All I said was have a listen to it. Not saying Rooney was excellent. He did a job and provided an assist. I initially thought Rooney was quiet but Neville made me think of it from a different perspective.
Ed, why do you need to snarl at people who debate with you? Is it the same fragility that underpins your increasing resort to put-downs against Paul during the show? They are unpleasant to listen to. The show is also less effective now that you record it immediately after matches; it adds less value. Listening to you two talk about your immediate responses to a match you’ve watched on television is less informative than listening to you talk about the team’s performances in a slightly more reflective context, as used to be the case. It’s a shame, because the show was genuinely worth listening to last season and prior to that.
