It was great United Rant …… expecting Rooney to be back after a lousy season for Wayne , though not for United
Excellent show, lads. It was a nice touch having Andy Green cameo, but, Ed, you stole his thunder by explaining everything rather well before bringing him on.
Paul touched on a subject I have given some thought to as well: the mentality of the athletes, teams, and supporters in the UK. As a Yank, my mates in Wales would try to wind me up by talking about the war in Viet Nam, and, having discerned that rugby is religion in Wales, I used to counter with the claim that one could take even the poorest (in quality) NFL team, teach them the rules of rugby, and they would win the Welsh league in one year. I was only half joking, since the U.S. players would be bigger, stronger, faster, and more dedicated to athletic achievement. I only had to point out the number of times I had gone to the bar to get my round in and found myself elbow to elbow with Rob Howley, his teammates, and, sometimes, opponents to demonstrate the truth of the latter claim. I found it interesting that Rio recently complained about the “drinks culture” and the effect it was having on England football. But that is only part of the problem, as I see it. If anyone is interested, I’d be happy to discuss the matter in more detail.
