Here’s Lookin’ at Cristiano
In this week’s packed show, Cristiano Ronaldo; the man, the myth, the legend. How can one footballer be so undeniably handsome. And talented. And rich. Did we mention handsome? In less important football news we discuss United’s fine victory over Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok last weekend. Are Javier Hernandez and Wayne Rooney now unstopable? Finally, we talk Champions League following United’s dull draw in Lisbon with Benfica, and preview upcoming matches with Chelsea and Leeds United.

Dear rantcast
Greetings from north carolina. Only been a fan for three seasons ( never even saw cristiano in the shirt live) I agree scrappy away games in Europe especially group stage are part of the season. players do need game time but it’s funny listening to the tv announcers talking about fergie making hasty changes or pulling out the hairdryer. I never suspected either. Would love to see Fletcher come back by the city game and repeat his great 09 cup perfomances against them. Cheers, you guys are fantastic for us overseas fans.
Brian
Hey, Brian. Where in N.C.? My dad was twice stationed at Fort Bragg and decades later, I spent a year in Asheville. Anyway, welcome to Rant.
Another good show, Ed and Paul.
I agree about not planning to do anything other than use Jones and Smalling as the first choice centre-back pairing in the (not too distant) future, but while Rio and Vidic are still preferred in those positions when healthy, I see no problem giving the youngsters games at right back and, in Jones’s case, as a defensive mid.
When it came time for your match predictions, a 2-1 (to United) score popped up in my head as well, so let’s hope there’s more to that than coincidence. Cheatski trailing by five points after five games has a nice ring to it. I imagine that the football in the Leeds game will be dire; I’m not sure that I will even watch the .avi download. Berbatov, Owen, Park, Carrick, Fletcher, Valencia, Fabio, Evans, Rio, Smalling, and Lindegard is my guess for the starting XI.
Nice one Brian. I have visited Charlotte on several occasions – definitely a nice part of the world.
I’ve been through, on my way to Savannah… liked it a lot… few too many Yanks though…
Savannah I’ve been to. Unique place. Confederate flag flying everywhere
Savannah is great, Ed. Here’s hoping we thump Chelsea.
Ranters
im in durham, nicer than charlotte, you have to drive into country a bit to see the rebel flag. we got lots of yanks, myself included, but arent we all yanks over here?
just had a great thought, no bebe or obertan in the otalal whatever games! no disrespect of course.
Ignore Alf, Brian. He’s Canadian…
I’ve been to NC State’s stadium on the way back from playing in Raleigh, its a pretty decent stadium. Would definitely call NC my third home! Great food, great people and good for sports too!
On second thought, Sir Alex is unlikely to start the now perennially crocked Rio two days after the match against Cheatski, so I guess Jones starts this one. Pogba on the bench.
Is Darron out injured still or just in the same dog house Wes Brown was last season?
Bill – ankle injury but he’ll be back with the reserves when he’s fit
