Now Panic!
On this week’s show we discus a period in which the wheels fell of United’s title challenge, with defeats to Blackburn and Newcastle. We ponder the key issues of the week, including Sir Alex Ferguson’s decision to drop David de Gea, Nani’s form, Phil Jones’ mistakes and United’s set pieces. Ed and Paul talk Anderson, with the normally big-boned Brazilian back and looking trimmer than ever, and we talk about the title run in. Who is favourite for the Premier League from here on in? We ponder youth – when will United’s talented younger players get a chance in the first team – and we preview this weekend’s huge fixture with Manchester City in the FA Cup third round! Finally, we discuss the conclusion to the Luis Suarez affair, and ask whether Liverpool has lost all respect from the football community for its actions in the past two months?

Being reported that QPR have lodged a 5m bid with Blackburn for Chris Samba. That’s a very low-ball valuation but it may flush out other interest. I reckon we could get him if we bid 8 to 10m but I guess the question is whether Fergie would loosen the purse strings to that extent for yet another CB, particularly given Samba’s already 27 or 28.
I think Samba would be a good “bridge” between Rio (who won’t be first pick much longer) and Jones or Smalling – imagine partnering Vidic with Samba next season, that’s clean sheets right there. But I don’t think Fergie would do it as I would guess he genuinely thinks Jonny Evans is a better CB than Chris Samba. (I would respectfully disagree!)
Saf,is punishing us the best reward for our loyalty to him by continueing to insist that there is no value in the market.when we all know that our players start to wane do to lack of spack in the central midfield.
OH, I’d say there is plenty of spack in midfield tbf
There are some valid reasons why rotation is being used extensively, but I still can’t quite understand the reasoning behind playing Rafael in midfield and Valencia at right back. Rafael is a right back and Valencia has played a lot in midfield. And surely Pogba or Morrison would have been a better bet in midfield. Inexperience can’t be the problem since Rafael has no experience in CM.
I disagree with you about Rooney/Berba though. Last season that partnership produced a lot of goals. At the beginning of the season Berba scored freely, then stopped when Rooney was out for 7 games or so. As soon as Rooney came back, Berba scored 5 against Blackburn and that pattern continued for most of the season. People always talk about Berba being a deep lying striker but he’s not, he’s a proper centre forward who has great ability on the ball – when they both play in their correct position they are brilliant together. Ironically this all rests on the man of the moment – Michael Carrick. The midfielder, not the centre back.
We obviously need to buy a CM if SAF doesn’t think Pogba/Morrison/Tunnicliffe can play for United yet but I’d be happy just to have Cleverley back and fit. It would reenergise the team the way it did at the start of the season.
ferguson plz go away you and your fucking cronies glazers. no fucking value my ass!!
Jesus think we need more than a CB and a midfielder.
genius.. all spacks
we need brand new team (except vidic, nani(?), berbatov, chicharito, smalling), and brand new coach and money, simple
