Return of the Prince
United’s ‘game of two halves’ with Manchester City in the FA Cup – a fixture that saw the return of former-now-current player Paul Scholes. We discuss youth – Ravel Morrison’s latest bout of trouble. And we ponder the fallout from the recent Wayne Rooney/Sir Alex Ferguson spat. Ed & Paul discuss Eric Cantona’s bid for the French Presidency – or not as the case may be – and while we’re on former legends we talk about Mark Hughes and the Welshman’s return to management. Finally, we ponder the relegation race, say goodbye to Darron Gibson, talk about Spurs’ bid for the title, and preview the weekend’s fixture with Bolton Wanderers at Old Trafford.

Not a cover story. Rooney was right, club lacks ambition. Worse now, they lied to him and the fans. There has been no major investment and we’ve been forced to turn to past-it retirees.
I still cannot believe Scholes is back.
In other news, think the “youth obsession” is largely fiction. Fergie built a youth team in 90s because he had no other options (still bought Cole and Keane, etc). Since then, he has not needed to, and so we’ve bought. Problem now is we are not buying and not trying youth. We’re doing neither. The results are obvious.
