40,000 Against One
This week’s show looks back at United’s traumatic loss to Liverpool in the FA Cup, including some disgraceful scenes involving Patrice Evra. What does the Anfield crowd’s reaction mean for race relations in the game? We also discuss David de Gea’s form, with the young Spaniard struggling to impose himself at Anfield. Ed & Paul look back at United’s comfortable victory over Stoke City at Old Trafford, which included an exciting Premier League début by French midfielder Paul Pogba. We talk transfers as Ravel Morrison departs and Féderico Vaselli joins the club from Manchester City, no less. Finally, we talk about the England captaincy, and veterans Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs, whose presence at Old Trafford endures. We also look forward to the weekend game with Chelsea at Stamform Bridge.

Listening to the Rant Cast has become a weekly friday tradition. A really enjoyable one at that.
That’s brilliant to hear! 🙂
Speaking of supporting evra, how about seeing 70,000 at old trafford next week?

The ‘evidence’ presented by either side amounted to nothing more than one players word against the other. Both sets of evidence showed inconsistencies and the only rightful outcome should have been that the evidence was insufficient to come to a conclusion – that would undoubtedly have been the case had this been tried in a criminal court as John Terry’s case.
However, the FA appointed panel chose to ignore the inconsistencies in Evra’s evidence and focus intently on those in Suarez’ in order to arrive at the politically expedient conclusion.
Furthermore, people that ask the question “why would the FA have it in for LFC?” are completely missing the point. The FA don’t have it in for LFC – had this been an accusation of a racist comment made by Glen Johnson against Hernandez I would anticipate a similar outcome.
The key is that racism is such a political hot potato that the FA were on the side of the accuser irrespective of his club colours.
I’m not convinced that Suarez version of events reflects 100% accurately exactly what went on and was said, but equally the 115 page report gives me no evidence to suggest that I should happily accept the version proposed by Evra either.
You’re talking shit
Evra’s version of events remained consistent and corrolated with evidence given by other players and TV footage
Suarez’s version of events changed, often, and contradicted his own witnesses, and Dalglish, and didn’t corrolate with TV footage
Here he is being “conciliatory” (20 sec)
It also shows that he didn’t pinch Evra’s skin to “diffuse the situation”, he did it to be a cunt. Evra should have knocked him out at that point, and then filled in Kuyt before headbutting Dalglish and offering out everybody in Anfield
FFS… is there an assembly line somewhere that churns out these thick fuck heads?
Suarez admitted calling Evra, “Negrito”… admitted it… his defense is that, “Negrito”, is not insultive in his country… no one except stubborn twats such as yourself is having that.
Why can’t you either just accept that you’re wrong… or at least fuck off into a quiet corner somewhere, and sulk in solitude… how about a hut in Siberia… anywhere, so long as we don’t have to listen to any more of your horse shit.
“Badges, to god-damned hell with badges! We have no badges. In fact, we don’t need badges. I don’t have to show you any stinking badges, you god-damned cabrón and ching’ tu madre! Come out from that shit-hole of yours. I have to speak to you.”
He’s in the other thread as well talking shite.
It doesn’t matter that Suarez admitted using a racially offensive word, there are too many inconsistencies in the evidence, Evra is a liar la.
Great podcast this week. Laughed out loud plenty of times… especially at “Gibson may have scored an important goal…. a title winning goal”.
I have to admit I was pretty aggressive towards Morrison’s move until I heard a more level account of why the transfer had happened. But one thing I still can’t understand is why we didn’t loan him out last season to a club in London. If he needed to get out of Manchester then why not facilitate that with the possibility of him returning more mature to the club that gave him his chance?
I will be much less tolerant towards Pogba if he leaves though.
