Rodrigo Possebon heads home
Rodrigo Possebon has left Manchester United and joined Brazilian side Santos on a four year deal, after the 21-year-old midfielder failed to make it into Sir Alex Ferguson’s first team plans. The youngster’s return to his homeland comes two and a half years after joining United from Internacional. He returns home for no transfer fee.
The talented player put in a series of outstanding performances for United’s reserve team before suffering an ankle injury on a rare first team opportunity, against Middlesbrough in the Carling Cup.
Although sidelined for barely a month, the midfielder failed to gain any regular first team action – making a single FA Cup appearance against Derby County in February 2009 – and was loaned to Braga for 2009/10 campaign. He failed to make an appearance for the Portuguese club.
“It was a great experience in Europe, but now I want to adapt again as quickly as possible,” said the player who has declared for Italy, but is still eligible to play for Brazil.
